Love ❤️ it man 😘. The whole fam still having a Blast 😉. That's Great 🐖
Yeah all the girls loved the kayaking around the lakes. Was a bit cold for swimming but we all made the dip in the water so we could say we did. The river was a bit cold wading around fishing but well worth it for the views.

Those girls with you are awesome! Growing up our kids went everywhere with us. My brother couldn’t drive 3 hours without fear of creating issues with his daughters.

Think of the memories they will have for the rest of their lives!

So cool!

Per Jon @greenbeast, You are creating lifelong memories for your family, especially your girls. Thirty years ago, during a hiatus from gainful employment and while my teacher/wife had summers off, we bought a used motor home on a credit card and embarked on a months-long "Lap Around America." While the goal wasn't all 50 states, we did go from Colorado to northern CA, up the coast to Victoria BC and zigzagged along the border via Banff, Glacier and Yellowstone NPs, northern WY and the Black HIlls, MInnesota and along both sides of the St. Lawrence Seaway, ending up in Nova Scotia before a ferry ride to Portland ME, a visit with family in the NY City area and dashing back to a family reunion in Colorado. To this day my "kids" now in their 30s and 40s talk about that trip. Wish I had a dollar for every time we're watching some TV show and I hear "we've been there" or "we did that" or "remember when..."
Good job...congrats!

We “hit” Washington today so 49 down but will spend some time in Washington before heading up once the wife gets back. Had to make a quick trip to Spokane airport and get the wife back to Hawaii for a week to get a few work things and caretaker switch done while I build the deck at my brothers. @bobm sorry we couldn’t squeeze you in but it would have been a tight fit with 6 people and your two dogs for the rest of the trip.

Would rather be driving. Day one a success. 16x32 deck framed up and almost decked after 3.5 hour round trip this morning of taking the wife to the airport. Tomorrow is frame out the gable roof extension and stairs then hopefully day 3 will be roofing and sit down to drink a beer and enjoy the view.

Day 2 and day 3 done. Should of finished in two days but it’s done

Fast work!

Your pace is nothing less than amazing. I can’t make a trip to town for 30 minutes in less than 4 hours with my wife.
Just remember how much your life was enriched in that 4 hours! Otherwise you would have missed all that other stuff...

If I’ve tried to tell myself anything on this trip it’s that I’m were I’m supposed to be at the right time. Can’t rush things and force it. Just go with the flow and everything has a reason. My goal was be in Alaska just after Father’s Day to be at our place and do some fishing and hang out for a month there. We decided not to rush the trip and spend time along the way since we really had no where to be. Got confirmation today the we lost our place from the bear creek fire. I’m so glad that the crews were able to save both our neighbors homes that live there full time. We lost some things but nothing that will keep us down. Luckily the alaska cruisers are at my dad’s house in the shop and most the guns were also in a safe at his home. We Bought the property 5 years ago and slowly been picking away at making a nice little relaxing vacation fishing hunting cabin. Not sure what the next step will be but I’m thankful we were not down the two track driveway out of cell service when the fire blew up. the winds whipped thru and it grew from 20 acres to 4000 in a day and the next it was up to 21,000.
Lots of good memories and laughs were had and the most beautiful sunrises on the porch drinking a cup of coffee.

That's terrible news, sorry for your losses. Fire season is just getting going here and is sadly the new summer norm - signs are posting extreme risk around Whitehorse. We went down to Calgary last week and had to re-route on the way down for fires, but were able to come back the usual route through Edmonton (faster). Not sure if you meant not sure of next steps re the cabin or coming to AK?

Next steps for the property we will be heading up leaving Washington in a few days. My wife flys back Wednesday we were talking of heading to PNW overland in Redmond Friday but it’s a 15 hour round trip down and back to start here then making the trek up.

Couple more photos of when we drove the 63 up a couple years back

Dang, that sucks for sure. Sorry you lost the AK getaway. You’re so well grounded with the family, everything else is trivial. I’m sure this unfortunate event won’t dampen the incredible time you have had as a family!

Gonna rebuild? That’s beautiful area for sure.
