Elbert what is the part number for the ECM bracket that helps it settle in the engine bay??

Thanks,

Hey,

I copied this from Post #150.. This fits the PCM I have for my 99 year model engine. I don't know what other GM PCMs it fits.

I told someone I would post the GM part number for the bracket that holds the PCM to the fenderwell,
its # 15993200 . I bought one from GMPARTSDIRECT for something like $20... I'm sure salvage and junkyards most likely have them, but for $20.00, I would order one..

Hey Elbert,

When you get this all straight the you guys can meet up at my place and the loser can settle up then. That way I get to see these trucks in person! :D

And order the bracket normally the guys break them up trying to get the ECU off.

You on Randy !!!

I order the bracket from the local dealer...under $16.
Part number 13362705 for my application

Ok...
I'll see if I can work that out... Maybe drag along my friend who helped me with the 'beast"..

Hell we might even learn something along the way. Yota-Con in TX this summer... of course purely for sharing technical knowledge and official BS.

Waiting on my injector "kit" to show up.

I'm sure there is a nice steak place with my name all over it.... MANUCHAO will have to show up with some $$ :)

I had better get on the stick.... I've been dragging my @$$ for the past few weeks... I'm hungry allready!

My truck is nothing special... it needs some body work and I may end up having to rip out the carpet and replace that... Mines built to drive....but as I've said before the engine has to "get right" first. I'm wonding how my cooling issue is going to play out... First things first... engine got to run!

Mark's Adapter & Slave Cylinder

Elbert,I just put a V-8 in my FJ55 using a Marks Adapter. When you installed your's did you have an issue with the clutch arm that the Mark's supplied and the slave cylinder? It looks like my clutch arm may be a little short thus making a need to modify the slave cylinder? Thanks

I mounted the slave cylinder right to the bellshousing adapter and it seems to work fine. I did not follow what the purpose of the bracket was... or at least how it would apply to my setup.

I think I read somewhere that there exist different length cltuch forks. I just used the clutch fork that came of my OEM trans. I'm also using the ceterforce clutch that Advance sell as part of the kit.

When you say clutch arm I'm guessing you are referring to the clutch fork... Can't you bolt the slave clyinder directly to the marks bellhousing and it work ok?

I've not driven my truck yet very much (excpet to move around the driveway), clutch has very short throw.. I'm still working on drivability issues.

minor update..

repalaced fuel injection syder assembly.... with new upgraded GM setup. Truck idles alot better and is not running rich. Still have the problem with it not reving up past about 1,500 RPM. I've ordered a Mass Air Flow sensor, after that I'm about to start screwing with the PCM. I bought one of the tuner packages and we'll see where that gets me. I want to make sure I have some known baseline before I start screwing with the computer.

CLutch Fork

You can't mount straight to the Marks. I'm using the clutch arm that came with the Marks but I think it is too short. I'll probably be hunting for another a little longer.

Why cant you mount directly to the bellhousing? I'm thinking thats exactly what I did. I'll crawl under the truck and look tomorrow.

minor update:

I'm told by some of the "tuner guys" that my PCM tune is having an issue with "Abuse Mode," which is something thats built in to the GM PCM's that has the ability to limit RPMs and Fuel...based upon certain factors. Trying to figure out how to turn this off via PCM programming.

It's alive and running!....

If not it was not too long before I buy a carb, an intake, a distributor and a 20lb sledge hammer to beat the $(#& #$ out of the fuel injection setup.

Seems to run good, no codes, has a minor problem with dieing at idle some times (when coming to a stop)... its running about 200-205 with the OEM 195 thermostat. A little harder to get into 5th gear than the other gears but the trans is brand new so may need some breakin. So far no leaks. I'll give it hell for a few weeks and then see about getting the A/C running.

What solved my delmia?? Well I bought another ECM and had it programmed and that made all the difference in the world. Something to do with this "abuse mode" was cutting off fuel at 1,500 RPM.

I'm running one large 16 inch electric fan... So we'll see what happens when I get the A/C going on how it handles the temps. So far this afternoon I did not notice any leaks...which is good. Drove it about 50 miles the evening... Got to see what the die at approcahing a stop is about but other than that its running pretty good, no poping out the exhaust, no VSS, half the emaission crap is gone, no rear 02 sensors, no fuel tank pressure sensor.

I'm sure I'll come across some minor things here and there, and I have fix a bracket on the TC case...

Hey Elbert Good Job! The dieing at idle is due to the lack of a VSS this is very common on FI cars with a non working or missing VSS.

Way to go Elbert...Looks like you gave Frank a good run for the money! If you had the VSS eliminated you could bump your idle up with a programmer. Since you got everything fixed now! So how does it feel to be able to use the left lane now?! :bounce:

I do have a programmer / tuner computer program now... I've not looked at this new PCM yet.. I just got it in the mail when I got home from work today... took me about 5 seconds to open the box and run out to swap out the PCM. I'll look at the settiing in the new PCM in a day or two and see what I can . I don't recall previously seeing a way to change the idle. I did see a setting for a idle's based on temp, but not sure if there's a general way to bump up the idle... it may be in that area, I'll look again.

Truck has some power, and has a nice sounding exhaust. May go with a flowmaster later...so I can wake up the neighors. Have a magnaflow dual in..single out, don't have room really for dual pipes out.

I think the truck is going to be quite impressive in comparision to the old I-6.

Feels good to drive it, and also I appreciate the help and advice from many people I've only met here on this forum. Not many land cruiser idiots in AL...

I've not ruled out a VSS... I think downy sales one that mounts to the end of the speedo cable and then to the TC.

Everything worked out fairly well.... I got burned by the first PCM programming, and also what appears to be a faulty fuel injector (spyder)... most of the other problems were "self-induced"....

Thermostat actually decided to work today...I made up my mind that it was either going to work or melt down...right about 210 on the mechanical guage in the cylinder head.....it started to cool back down.

I am going out to Frank's on Sunday. He is getting close. We should make a good dent in the work he has left.

way too go Elbert. glad to hear your up and running.
you'll have great fun with that V8.

by the way, who did you send the pcm to for programming?

devo

Way to go Elbert.....
Im getting there.... now Im trying to get all the fitting I need for the fuel lines.....

I'll join yah guys soon... :)
