Well I guess I should give an update. Still running strong I have room for more fuel running cool about 1060F is the most I have seen running 80 mph pushing 30psi.

Cleaned up some of my wiring that I had been putting off and added the grid heater relays just in time for warm weather so I never put the switch in

Also found a deal on a used PCS trans controller. Seems to have a lot of feature for modern transmissions for future growth if I get adventurous for a 5 speed. Capable of running multiple pulse width modulating shift Solenoids. A lot of flexibility for TC lockup functions in multiple gears. It should be fun to play with

Also finally got the foam stuff off my tail gate and replaced the emblem with a sticker

And painted the front flares finally to match

Looking good CJ. Where did you get the Land Cruiser sticker?

A Mud member Gahi. I don't believe he is making them to sale so he might send the file so you could have it cut locally at a sign shop. He had a couple made when he made them for himself. I searched his name in the 80 section and came up with the thread but couldn't copy and paste from the app.

About 5000 hard miles into my swap. Many weeks I drive 10 miles to work each direction and some times don't hit over 50 mph all week. Lowest tank was 16.2 and best tank was 17.8. Not a bad town spread. That about about what I got out of my old 2wd dodge. The 17.8 was a raging around 70 on a 300 mile round trip to the lake loaded down with gear. That's up about a 1/2 mpg after bumping the timing advanced 3/16 above the mark.

On a side note ocasionally on startup I have heavy smoke so I believe I have an injector sticking open.

Other then That running and shifting great. Don't have the Trans controller put together yet. So still using the Toyota ecm for control

Coming to SMORR this year Jess?

Undecided at this point. I've got a Saturday work function that i may not be be able to get out of.

Well I've had the harness out of the cruiser pulling my hair out with wiring diagrams. Almost have them committed to memory. Just kidding if I do I might need committed...

Hope to have a custom trans controller in and working this weekend with all factory buttons and lights functioning.

Started my 3.54 gears install starting with the rear. I'm making some tooling and stands as I go so the first set will take me a week or more I would guess with an hour here an hour there.

These are the old and presumably original 235k gears still has .008" back lash and desent patterns showing

Very impressed with your skills.

I'd be interested in chatting sometime about turning up the boost on my 4bt. It maxes at about 14psi right now. Not sure how to go about the process though. Any resources are appreciated.
I have plenty of power for what I need but it might be fun to play around with.

All the same 6bt VE dodge stuff corilates. Get pyro if you dont have one. Turn the pressure on the pump up. Loosen the fuel pin preload. Figure out its defueling because you are running higher rpm. Change spring. Fuel hard watch mpg drop with a smile on your face. Get higher gears...

Or maybe that is my path. Are you in the 4500 split case crowd? The set up makes a big difference running to close to gov top end does too. You might get more avalible power, and boost at a lower rpm with no pump mods

Yeah running the NV4500/split case with Marks gears. Got the full gauge setup, Pyro, boost etc.
I know there is ton of stuff out there but so much is so vague. I think I will probably just leave well enough alone. I have probably 8k miles on the swap now with no complaints. Getting right 18 MPGs with a 4" lift and 37s. Cruises down the freeway at 70 - 75 no problem.

I am quite familiar with 4BTswaps.com :) I am one of the few people who have actually done this succesfully myself mostly with my own research.

If your running 37 and marks gears so you should be wherr you nerd to be on gearing.

you will need more fuel. Or a smaller turbine housing. There is no exact equation. A little trial and error with a little more fuel. You should see a boost increase a smaller turbine housing will spool faster and harder but increase EGTs I'm running an hx30 6cm with out the waist gate hooked up. In the heat 90+ dry air 25psi and hight EGTs are normal 80 and lower with 40+ humidity is 30psi + with better EGTs. Every location and weather condition is a little different when it comes to tuning

Thanks CJ, I might play with it a little. If I have questions I may send you a PM.

Then you should be able to research how to tune a VE pump :D

What's your highest EGT?

In short:
1. Make sure you have an ideal turbo (HX30w or HE221)
2. Turn in full power screw until you are happy with the power, or you reach a dangerously high EGT, whichever comes first
3. Adjust AFC (star wheel and smoke screw) until you are happy with the smoke level

Depending on the turbo, you sohuld be able to make at least 30psi of boost.

Looks like I have an H1C turbo, trying to read which size casting. That actually has opened up a bunch of threads in searches that I wasn't finding before. Highest EGTs I get is about 1050 on long steep grades with the pedal on the floor. I've never seen it higher than that.
