Unimog Axles have entered the chat. 😂

Back in the day there was a place in Grass Valley, California that could get mog axles hella cheap.

How many of you are running lifts with external reservoirs (e.g. I'm running King)? Right now, I'm running 285/70r17 on TRD Pro SEMA wheels (+4mm) and got pretty significant rubbing on the reservoir at full lock (esp in reverse). I've added a 1in spacer to alleviate this and only get it in reverse at full lock (I think this works out to about -20mm offset?).

Considering moving up to 255/85r17, but worried about rubbing on the reservoir even more without pretty significant offset. Curious if anyone else has tackled the reservoir issue. I'm looking at the possibility of relocating them as well.
For this, a spacer should do the trick. I’m thinking 1.25 spidertrax. But u would need to take some measurements to make sure what spacing u need.

Yeah I'd just like to not run spacers, personally. These reservoirs seem like silly placement, and I can't be the only one rubbing quite a bit on such a tame setup... In fact on the setup Total Chaos recommends.

I've got Icon's at all for corners. Have to rebuild them every few years, which I hate.
If you go to my build thread, post #4 you can see exactly what I have for suspension, wheels and tires that have worked flawlessly for over 5 years. Yeah, I'm a little on the more extreme side, but if you want to scale it down for your build, you'll still be okay.

Spacers will not get you any more suspension travel, just raise your rig. Most of the after market suspension's will give a better than stock ride. Personally, mine rides awesome. But... I do have the heaviest weight springs and I am very loaded for overlanding.

I wasn't talking about spring spacers. I was talking about wheel spacers to give you more backspacing

I have a zero offset wheel. When I went up to 35" i rubbed the Fox reservoirs and the UCA. I've been running a 1.25" spidertrax without any issues.

Awesome, thanks for the input. Yeah, I meant wheel spacers :-D Sounds like I may just need to suck it up and run wheel spacers. Or figure out a relocation for the reservoirs.

Can you post a couple of photos down the side of your rig to see how flush (or not) your tires are to the fenders?

FWIW, I ran wheel spacers with 33's on my 0 offset wheel for 10K miles, no issues. But I do all the work on the rig on my own. If you take it to a tire shop and they gonna just put a air gun to it, then I cringe. I make sure to apply anti sieze to the surfaces (not the threads) and make sure it's torqued correctly. I apply loctite to the threads. If you know how to run it, then you shouldn't have any issues.

When I went to a -25 offset wheel to run 35's, I sold my 1.25" spidertrax spacers to a 4Runner owner for the exact same problem you're having. I believe he had Fox resi's but the mounting locations are all pretty much the same I believe.

With anything, educating yourself on proper operation and maintenance will take you far.

Nice!

Very interested in how these fit and handle.

Recently put Kumho Geolander MT 285/75R17 on my GX. Comes out to about a 34” tire, up from 33’s.
