Time to introduce myself to the 120 Section. Picked up a 2006 GX470 with 112,500 miles. Started off with an FJ40, then FZJ80. Need to tow a small camper trailer so I needed a V8. Color is the Ash Blue Mica. Great condition. When the AHC fails I will switch over to OME suspension. Other than that, no other mods currently planned. Flew to Reno and drove back to Durango. What a plush ride. It was a one owner, female driven, garaged kept car. Had maintenance records for every 5K miles.

So here it is:

I love that color, same as mine. Have any plans for a GPS unit? I came from a car with bluetooth and miss it dearly. I may eventually replace the head unit with something bluetooth and nav capable, but was curious what other owners were using.

very nice, welcome from just down the road

No Nav is the best! You can go aftermarket without concerns over HVAC controls. Good find, and welcome!

I like the idea of no nav

nice find! im kinda jelly. you have the color combo i wanted! does yours have the 3rd row?

Dang, that thing looks amazingly clean, nice score and -- Welcome!

First, thanks for the warm welcome.

Do not know yet. I like not having a huge screen looking me in the face. Never had bluetooth so I cannot miss it. There is some one here on the forum that installed an no name Chinese brand with great luck. Search and you will find it. Do not have time right now to look for it.

I waited till I found the color I wanted, along with other preferences. Surprisingly, only took two months of intense searching. Yes, have third row. Took them out as I will build a drawer system.

very nice truck! Im also looking to move from a locked 80 to a GX!

If one were to source that lower AC/heater control from a NON Navi GX ...could that replace a factory Navi system allowing for an after market head unit ?

Someone in the toyota120 forum is doing the exact thing you mentioned. I think the last post of his is that he sourced the HVAC control and waiting it to arrive. I think his post was rather old. I'd give his thread a bump to see where he is at.

welcome!

Very nice! Good job holding out for what you were looking for. Took me a while to score a no nav unit but glad I waited.

I also did aftermarket non-nav, with alpine, etc. Pretty easy.

I finally got around to installing the Yaesu FT-8800R. Used the Diamond K400CNMO antenna mount, the C110' extension cable for the K400CNMO, and the Panavise mount (#75136-903). Built an extra bracket for the mic mount. Used a Sony CPA-9C tape converter to run sound out of car speakers. Used a mono to stereo converter to split into left/right channel. Works until I replace the stereo unit.

Put the transceiver in the left rear compartment.

Hmm, interesting antenna mount never would have considered that location with the spoiler but I may go that route with mine.
Looking to do something cleaner on the dash for my Yaesu face plate and probably going to mount the radio itself in the upper glove box area where the owners manual goes. A test for will allow me to put the HAM and CB in that spot of the glove box.
