I have the same setup. Rides nice and road handling is pretty impressive. Wouldn't exactly say it floats over the train tracks but does well all around. Took about 6 hrs to install.
are those 33" tires? that's a hell of a lot of flex man. did you replace the stock springs or an old lift kit? my stock springs were back breakers.

Thanks for the post. I have been thinking about this lift for quite awhile now and I think you just pushed me over the edge (where is my credit card!). A couple questions: Do you know where your total lift height ended up with the 1-1/2 shackles? Also, what is the measurement from the ground to, say, the top of the rain gutter? Lastly, did one of those CCOT girls come in the box? Thanks, Kev.
i had to post everything up cause it was hard finding people who had installed the lift. i found maybe 4 people. i can check measurements of how it sits now, i believe 30" in the rear and 24" in the front (from ground to bottom of bumpers) i wish i had measured before-hand, but i was too busy getting my lift on. oh and i got TWO of those ccot girls in the box... unfortunately on paper leaning up against someone else's cruiser.

Hi All:

I know a couple of guys that have installed the "HFS" 4 inch lift on their FJ40s and have been very satisfied.

One of them is here on "MUD" - his handle is "SpotCruiser" if you want to ask him any questions.

Regards,

Yes, ~33" 285/75-16 MTR on 80 series rims. It does flex pretty well. I thought about going with 35s but already had the 33s so figured I'd try them out first. I'm satisfied w 33s. The old springs/etc were not original and came off without too much trouble. It helped to have a sledge hammer and crowbar, impact wrench, and cutoff tools available. Bolts that were uncooperative were cut off since I had all new pins and bolts. I did most by myself since by the time my slacker friends arrived the job was almost over... ;)

Great, I may do that. I would like to know what the measurement is from the ground to the the top of the rain gutter. Mine is not lifted yet and that would give me a good idea of what I would end up with...

i measured from the ground at the rear wheel, it's 76-1/2"
keep in mind i have an aqualu tub, and it looks like it needed some more body spacers all around to keep it level.

Thanks for doing that, I really appreciate it.

ya they're the 1.5" extended barbell shackles from ccot, also got the same 4 deg shims for the front, didn't put any in the rear. no vibrations or noises. i think you'll be impressed, well worth the $

I've got a question when buying that lift kit(4" HFS) do you have to put shims in if you use factory size shackles? Or, does the kit compensate for the pinion angle?

somebody correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe you need the extended shackles with this kit, i think i read somewhere that there were issues with rubbing the stock shackle? not enough room or something like that? to answer your question though i believe you just need to buy shims when buying extended shackles. i don't know whether or not the kit compensates for the angle though. best talk to someone at cool cruisers.

You've had this kit for a few months now, so what's the verdict? I am torn between this kit or the MAF kit. Leaning towards MAF.

Thanks

wes i think it would be wise to get shims, some say you need them some say you dont, you could probably get away with out them but youll notice some diiference.

I guess that makes since. Are those 33"s i didn't catch it in your post? You had to extend the brakes, and new shackles, what else is required for the lift? I think I will get that lift when I get $$$. Did you take it offroad yet? more pics?

35x12.5r15 tires on 15x10 wheels w/ 3.5" bs
4" springs
1.5" extended greasable shackles
4 deg shims
extended center pins
shocks
ubolts
spring hanger pins
extended brake lines
all the nuts and bolts
cutting wheels for some fender trimming, (if you're going 12.5" wide tires)
and you'll have to adjust the drag link or pop the steering wheel off to re-center it

haven't done any serious offroading, took a forest service road a few miles up a mountain for a christmas tree, played in some mud. doing a trip up to skookumchuck hot springs on the 21st this month, i'll be taking a camera for sure.

might have to adjust your monitor to view these, it was a midnight mud run...
