Yep, made in China like the rest of them.

In running the Bosch DistancePlus. Haven't seen specs on the OEM filtration quality but the BoschDP filter is pretty stellar both for filtration quality and the total contaminant amount it can contain before hindering flow.

Not sure if where made makes much difference to our engine. I'm personally using M1-102 filter with M1 5W-30 EP oil and change every 5k mile or so. I use for two reasons one; they’re on sell buy 5 qt with filter for total $36.00 and two: they’re good for up to 15K miles. Toyota filter supposedly have a valve that makes sure oil available on start up, I don't know if that’s true of M1's or Bosch. I’ve used both Dealer & M1 filters and didn't notice any improvement at reducing cold start knock. I’ve read good reviews on both Bosch & M1 oil filters; most importantly synthetic filters are good for extended mileage. Dealer filter, if used, should be change at shorter intervals.

Can you also post pics of the front of that -20004 filters?

These used to be the "good small" Japanese filter till the supply dried up for both CDan and I.

Now they send us -20004's made in Thailand.

:(

The good "big " filter is also disco for the US market from Toyota (the "classic" Land Cruiser filter): 15600-41010.

...which crosses to an M1-209. About 2" longer but still fits...more media to catch stuff

Did the supply dry up because Toyota stopped making the -20004s in Japan period? Or do they still make them in Japan for the domestic market? (that doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, but worth asking, haha)

Actually, a good question with a known answer.

They are still installing the good Japanese filter as factory fill for at least the 4.0 Tacos and FJC's.

There is a good chance these are available in Japan.

There is also a good chance that these are now only being used as a factory part and not replaceable with the same part number once it has left the factory.

Is there a "new" number for these too?
