You could also print in glow in the dark right? That might be useful for some

so elsewhere we started a conversation about my vent that has the little cylindrical nub busted off. seems like we could have a fix if part for that failure.
also i am not totally sure how these things go back in.
anyone have a link to how to put these in? i know it is not idiot proof since i busted the ones on my tacoma taking them out and don't want to do it on the 80...

see post #62 Builds - 1993 80, BUILD, another "it has begun" for fjbj40! - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/1993-80-build-another-it-has-begun-for-fjbj40.1182322/page-4

Although this doesn't have to be exclusive to the 80, still some good design work.
Anderson powerpole 3D print for 'coin' holders - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/anderson-powerpole-3d-print-for-coin-holders.1281711/
I posted a couple of pics in the what did you do with your 80 thread a few days back.

Anyhow, V2 looks pretty close. I'm just sizing up the roll pin hole a little to make it easier for the roll pins to be inserted.

So, this is the latest 'look'. The grey is too light, so I'll probably just use black versus go hunting for darker grey.

The powerpoles slide in with a reasonable amount of friction. The roll pins will just secure them.

This is V1 (posted in the other thread), to see how/where it fits. This was a white proto.

Figured I start this thread since I'll post up the STL once I happy with it. I'll do a new test fit tomorrow. The design is in solidworks, so I can put those files up too if anyone wants them.

cheers,
george.

Can you share the file for this?

Here's a problem that needs a solution.

Recently one of the round plastic windows for the headlamp leveling bubble thingies (80 series) just crumbled and fell apart when I attempted to clean it. The rest are all deteriorating and opaque from heat, UV exposure, age.

Is there a (? clear) plastic that could be used to replace those inspection windows with 3D printed parts?? Getting the remnants of the old plastic pieces off the headlamp housing might be a challenge however (dremel maybe) as they appear to be glued to the housing.

Just out of curiosity how much do these printers cost?
At 150 range you will need to do some fiddling and tinkering so factor that in to your cost as that takes time and research. However you can get good prints from those. Also be aware there is a learning curve to designing and printing. They are fun and you can design a lot of cool stuff and print them, but if you only have a few things to build and limited space....sometimes you can get someone to print for you. You can get people to design and print for you also and depending on the complexity level can be pretty cheap compared to time and learning etc.

For the really high end printers they need less fiddling and the print faster, more material types and larger end products.

Not a lot of people realize that they won't be printing a part they designed within a week of getting their first printer...no matter how much it costs. People who can do that are def in the minority so most 3d printers get used very little.

@Outsane any update on the bushings or more ideas you are looking in to there?

@clx16

If you are talking rear suspension bushings I am running printed sets.

These are the rear uppers

Just placed an order for a couple of items. ^

What material is used for the 3D bushing and does it come in different Durometer ranges?
