My 76 is currently sitting on a 4" SKyjacker lift with Extended shackles from the yr 2000 and nearly brand new 35x12.50 mud tires that were mounted in 2003. Seems a little sketchy to be running tires that are 22 yrs old. They sat outside on the 40 for the last 20yrs to the point of rotting off the valve stems. I soap'd up new stems and popped them in without taking the tires off. Everything is holding air just fine and they roll at 65 mph but I feel like I'm running on a ticking time bomb. I loved my 255/85R16 tires but would like to stick with as close to a 35" as possible. Any experience with something closer to a 35"x 10.50 or 11" range? Even when when current tires were new, she tended to wonder a little more than I like at freeway speed. I'm running an International Scout power steering that seems pretty solid. All new tie rod ends when I did the frame off last year.

I think they leave the antioxidant out of the new rubber, so it will dry rot sooner and make you buy new tires even tho the old ones have good tread. Car batteries would last upwards of 10 years if you took care of them, now if it will go the 5 year warranty you did great. I like the concept of a rubber overdrive, but it was like a grand for five 16'' new rims and about a grand and a half for the new rubber to put on them.

My old 35x13.5 bfg krawler are 21yrs old , also 4" lift and i can drive with one finger at 60 mph on the bad road we have here
You probably have the caster off because of the extended shackle
True. Didn't think about the Caster being off. She drove so great with the 255/85r16's but the heavy 35" hard rubber tires may be making it worse. I'll double check it. I know I rub a little on the back when I flex it. Obviously my rear outer sheet metal is cut to clear the 35" but it rubs on the inner wheel wells

I have the 35x10.5x15 Kanati Mud Hogs and love them. Super quiet on the road. 4 degree caster shims may fix your wandering issue. I run those front and rear in mine.

I was going to run that same tire mentioned above but due to clearance of my garage I had to change the lift and go back to 33’s. I haven’t had my cruiser on the road yet but I loved the look of the tire. The best part is it’s cheaper than an 33x10.5 tire.

I run 4" skyjackers snd scout steering too. I started with 4* shims and made up custom length shackles to adjust my caster angle to about +1*. It drove great, but decided to try 6* shims to get a little more caster. I currently run 33-10.50x15's.

An enthusiast car? Five years on tires, seven if garaged.

You should be able to smell your tires, or they have less traction then when you could smell them.

Alas, ... they don't come in a 16".

Great info. I installed the Lift back in 1998. Starving College Student, so I didn't do much more than throw it on. This is back when the most up to date info on cruisers was coming through the old Land Cruiser Mailing List. Ask a question and wait for the next list of emails to go out a few days later. We thought we were so cool. I need to check my caster as I'm sure it's was off.

I had Discount Tire price match Walmart or Simple Tire when I got mine. Made for easy installation versus Walmart.
Anyone have pics of the the 35x10.5" Kanatis on a 40 with 4" of lift? I've never loved the 12.50. They're just too fat.
