Well aftrer months of begging and trying, i finally got new tires :grinpimp:

So first is original (BFG A/Ts 30x9.5x15, very flat) then second post will be the new (33x10.5x15 BFG A/Ts).

The difference in ride is amazing, and I'm liking it a lot. I am getting them changed again (the store messed up) and having them move the letttering to the inside.

Pic time!

true that. im thinking about doing AALs as soon as money allows. but thats just a temporary for an OME lift (if needed)

wow those are stuffed...any lift on there?

also, what do you think about the difference b/t 10.5" and 9.5" width???

i have always had stock Toyotas with narrow tires, but am considering a 31"x10.5". i do lots of snow and rock crawl/trail driving though, almost want to lean toward the 30x9.5" myself...

alright thanks for the advice on AALs. Im gonna get some poser shot after school today and see how much rubbing i get.

Kayak Panic- no lift, very flat springs. I think that the 10.5" look quite a bt better cosmetically. the 30x9.5 just seemed way too small. I would go with the 31x10.5s personally

"wider is better"

yea me no likey 9.50's
i have 33x10.50 on my 42 (came on it, and no power steering) and my 60 pimped 33x12.50 on stock suspension.

I have had a chance to test these tires out and get some poser shots. The insane rain in Texas has made some of the nicest mud, and these tires performed FLAWLESSLY. handled most of it in 2WD. now for pics!

...unless you are rockcrawling on a very narrow, off camber, mountain trail (leaning out/down), and you have the option of rolling your Toyota 4-5000 vertical feet to it's final resting place...
...or unless there is lots of snow and slush and ice 4-5 (or 6) months out of every year where you live...

if i was anywhere near "good" mudholes or deep sand i would agree fully.

also, i find it easier to crown on the inside or outside of a narrow tire, than a wider tire (i have driven a Hummer with wide 42" super swampers on 4x4 trails) because I have really solid pressure. it is easier for me to line up where i want to go, and one of the reasons i think that Toyota 4x4 are the best offroad, is that the wheels are pretty narrow, and when coupled with a narrow tire, it is easier for me you thread the needle and go around lots of stuff to pick a more comfortable-riding line.

my opinion is mine.

p.s. that being said, i think that 10.5" is a fine width for the larger fatter 60, when compared to the narrower leaner Hilux, and is probably what I will end up getting because the tires I want aren't made in 9.5" width except for a 30".

my thougts exactly. Thats why i went with 10.5" instead of 12.5" wide tires. I would have gone 9.5" but thats just too narrow for me. I also like the look of the stock wheels, and they can be used with 10" wide tires :D

the lack of power is starting to bug me... what a ballpark on a re-gear? My understanding is that I need 4.11s...

4.11's will bring it back to stock ratio.

You can buy a couple of used third members from a 62. These are 4.11 and you can just pop out the current third member and pop in the new one. That's the easy route. Look around and you can pick them up relatively cheap. I think cruiserparts.net sells them for $200 each including shipping.

I always remind people when they are figuring out cost, that since they will have both axles apart, now is the time to service the brakes or knuckles if they need it. Oh, and a good time to add that locker too.

Have you had any problem with the 33's rubbing. Want to move up to 33's just didn't know if they would fit before I get my lift done.

thanks
