there was always a dealer...car dealer that had a bunch of 80 series right when you got on the diagonal in Longmont, but i always saw 60s, not as many 40s. Almost bought some up the canyon a few times.
i dont think it's there anymore. i go to longmont quite a bit via diagonal

Speaking of Land Cruiser's future, this a fun rumor (in left hand drive)... Four door, please.

Toyota-Land-Cruiser-70-concept-Tokyo-Auto-Salon-2020-news.jpg

"The annual Tokyo Auto Salon is best known for its wild sports and tuner-car concepts, but the one that caught our eye, as well as US-based Land Cruiser specialists Cruiser Outfitters, is this short-wheelbase LC70. The current-shape Cruiser has the usual Auto Salon extras like bright paint and unique body adornments, but the real interest lies underneath.

This show special, which is said to be the work of LandCruiser Chief Engineer, Sadayoshi Koyari, features a coil spring rear suspension configuration and six-speed manual ’box. Before you say that the Bundera had coil all ‘round back in the day, this set-up uses the heavy duty 9.5-inch differential, not the light duty underpinnings under the Bundera and first-generation Prado 70s.

While we’ve seen custom coil set-ups using the 9.5 diff and 80 Series suspension components under 75 Series utes, this is the first time we’ve seen it in a semi-factory supported vehicle. "

Land Cruiser is here to stay in the USA in some form or fashion... I would venture to bet it either gets shrunk (and ToMoCo lets the Sequioa become the full size BOF SUV in the lineup) or it gets its natural born little brother available in the rest of the world (the Prado) in the lineup to compete with the 45-55K 4 door Wranglers, and New Broncos in the midsize BOF segment... I don't see Toyota letting FIAT and FORD have all the fun after exiting the off-road orientated segment with the discontinuance of the FJ Cruiser as few years ago. The 4Runner is a midsize SUV but it's designed more for the street, even the off-road models and TRP models... I see them either downsizing the LandCrusier to make a true off-roader or bringing the Prado as a true off-roader to compete in the segment. The 4Runner has name recognition, but not that of a Land Cruiser.

Land Cruiser in North America died at the end of 1997 but the infection that precipitated the prolonged death began in 1988.

I get 1997...but was the 3fe (a guess at your thinking) really that bad compared to the 2f?
They traded the clutch pedal for power windows.

....that and the front end looks like the Family Truckster

That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot
Shoo, bop, bop, bop, bop
Shoo, bop, bop, bop, bop

They took all them clutch pedals
Put in 'lectric winders
And they charged the people
90 grand just to see 'em

Hey, mudder, mudder
Put away them thoughts of wranglers now
Give me growling 2f's and birfields
And leave me the beers and the front axles, please

How about that Lexus J201?

:D
She's a bonnie las. You guys did a good job. Can you give us the scoop on the...well...scoop on the front? I realize you didn't fab the front bumper but do you know if Lexus specifically told them how much they could trim?

Also, do you know if this and the GXOR are Lexus US marketing projects only or are they higher up?

Lexus of course wanted to maintain the trademark spindle look. CBI, Clay and myself met and discussed how high it needed to be to retain that look and CBI ran with the ball designing it with some check-off from our friends at Lexus.

I suspect we'll see more offerings on that front across the board.
