That Hoist is awesome man. I've lifted bodies, and about 8 engines with it (tcase / tranny) included. Had to take it apart to fix it but has been very reliable... have even pulled 60's into the garage. There is a Fairey Overdrive Tcase with tranny on it now.... draining fluid. I use it for everything!

Well the EXTREEME Garage makover is almost done. Still room for my 40! I HOPE! If there is room it will be pulled back in within the next month.

Ok, finally got some time to pull chia back in.. kinda. I pulled the 40 ton trailer from the back yard to get some axles out of it. I didn't have 3 other bodies to help me lift the body off so I improvised.

Got the front axle's unloaded and placed the trailer back in the back yard.

Since I've worked on this I've blown the engine in that Chevy and purchased a fellow Mudder's Pickup truck.

Almost bought another 73 last night that was relatively built, but 5 minutes before I got there the guy called and said it was sold. That gave me the cruiser itch again.

Looking forward to seeing you on the trail in 2010 or 11.

Dude!

I love the 020 AVP, you might want to clean it up a bit.

Is the the bucket truck really a crane? You might want to check the load rating. Most bucket trucks have a 300lb rating.

No, its not a crane... :hmm:. It does have a load rating of 300. I figure the body weighs 400. It acted like it was less.

Sorry, what do you mean by 020 AVP?

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh that. Yep. Its dirty.

Not much today.... but a big milestone. Pulled the frame up from the back yard and placed it back into the garage. Had a bunch of yardwork to get to so was only able to torch the old tranny mounts and grind the welds off.

I HATE GRINDING WELDS but there are no more to do!:bounce::bounce2::bounce:

Here is the latest buy. A York Compressor with super duper old school (FACTORY?) brackets.

How, just how are you going to mount a York on a 2FE?

GREAT SCOTT! You know, your right. I didn't think about that! Will it not work?

I'm not doing the 3FE Yet. I'll probably do it after running the carburated version for a while.

From your question, sounds like it wont work with a 3Fe Head on a 2F?

So its BACK ON!?
NICE!
You gave me a little bit of time to catch up to you...
How'd the re model go?

Yessir... can't let you beat me to the finish line! I'll put it together, tear it apart again and clean/paint it, then put it back together again... you'll likely beat me.

I tried the torch / putty knife on the bottom of the body. Got that tip from your thread. Works like a charm!

Build on my brotha!
However, Im spending a fortune on this build, where you are thrifty and smart and had actually held OFF till you had your parts in place by selling and trading.
That my friend was a GREAT idea!

My wife must REALLY love me, at least for now!

Im tuned in!

Anything is possible. I know there is a bracket you can buy to put them on the on the 3FE 80 series. When I look at a 3FE I just wonder how much more crap they could have bolted to the front of that engine.

wow that does look really close. Yea, it will def work on a 2f. I haven't done any research though on if it will fit on a 2F with a 3FE head. I don't think it will be too tough to figure out. I'll run it on the 2F just like whats pictured there in your thread.

Execution.

I need some advice on how to execute going forward. Of course i did this Bass Ackwards... should have done the spring over FIRST.

Here is what I'm thinking.

1. Wing it... cut the axle and guestimate without the weight... REAR 60 springs up front?

2. finish the tub, put the ruber on the frame... bolt up the body, slap the engine in, get the front buttoned up (wire harness not included). Then do the spring over?

Definitely learning here. Lesson learned.

I have 60 rears up front, SR & SOA, 2F sitting on top of them. Do you need any specific measurements to help make up your mind?

Yea... did you run 60 axles? I'm running 60 axles and got ruff-stuff for the outboarding.

I'm just getting hung up on pinion angle. Only want to cut/turn once. I think after I get over this hump, more progress on this build will come.
