Looking great as usual! How soon before you start shooting color? Are you going to do anything like spray on bedliner in the cab or box?

Probably a couple weeks before I start shooting color on the cab and fenders.

Yes, I am going to spray SEM's tintable bedliner kit, 39650, just as I did on the bottom of the LV. I plan on spraying it on the bottom of the cab, bottom of the fenders, bottom of the box and inside the box.

Funny you asked......just picked up 2 of those #39650 kits I ordered last week ;)

So are the braces keeping anything from being shot with primer/color? I know you had those on to keep everything square, just wondering when they'll be coming off, seems to me the tub is on its own at this point to stay square, and if not then it might be something you'd want to know before getting too far along with sanding/priming/painting. Still looking great Matt! I looked at a couple other restifications and it's immediately obvious the differences that set your builds apart from others out there. Nice to see stuff done right.

Brace's are aren't really keeping anything from being shot in primer. It was shot with epoxy primer prior to putting them in and I'm not shooting ureathane primer there.

The tub would easily stay square if I took them off. It actually makes it kinda handy to flip it around with those on to grab a hold of. When the tub gets SEM'd on the bottom and I flip it back over for paint, they will be coming off then.

Thanks for the compliments BTW,

And the color is?

And the color is?

653 Olive green Have to make sure it's straight and flawless as possible.....the darker colors will bring out any imperfections, usually the lighter colors will allow you to get away with a little more ;p

Looking great.

I thought you were going to keep the original color? Wasn't it Rustic Green?

I do like the Olive Green too.

I was debating between the orginal green and olive green.........Olive green won out in the end. I just like it to much.

How do you like the SEM bedliner? I am wanting to spray the interior of my 47 and have been looking hard at what SEM puts out. Steve

Rear Heater

That block heat has me thinking, have you considered putting a rear heater out a 40 in your 45 ? I have heard that some came with them. It is running about 10 deg here in the mornings and the fan switch on my 42 for the rear heat was not working, bypassed the switch and what a differnce!!! It will be on the list on my 45s.

SEM's bedliner kit #39650 has worked out very well for me. I sprayed it on the bottom of my 77 FJ40 when I did the resto on that. Coming up on year number 3 on my 40. Drive it year round and on about 3+ miles of gravel every day....looks as good as the day I put it on, not even a chip.

I like the fact that it can also be tinted exactly to the color, gives it more of a professional look I think.

I know a few other people have done it since my 40 and LV....maybe they can also speak up to there experience's?

Thanks, Matt

I used the SEM's bedliner kit as well on the bottom of my lv. granted it has not seen the road yet. but I sprayed it in the bed of my CDN M101 1/4 ton trailer. and have filled it with gravel 3 times now. a process that has the gravel yard dropping 3/4" gravel from a bucket about 9' above the bed and filling it to the top. then me using a rake and shovels to get it out then finally dumping the remainder out. in other words i have not been too kind to the coating and it has held up fine it looks like the day I sprayed it on, amazing stuff. I just used the black stuff, but I am contemplating using the tintable variety for the inside of the lv on the floors.

When is the green paint going to fly bud?

Are we going to put that cab back on the frame after we get the leaf springs swapped in the 45? ;)

how well does that stuff spray. another words, does it spray relatively smooth or very lumpy. I realize it is a bumpy bedliner, but some of that stuff does not flow very well and looks like carp.

Matt-

where do you buy that bed liner stuff at and what kind of gun do you use to spray it?

I bought SEM #39650 at the local autoparts store. I'm sure theres an autoparts store in Brainerd that carries there stuff, might have to order it though.

You probably could go on there site and find a local dealer

http://www.sem.ws/

The gun is called a, "Shutz gun". I got my gun online at some autoparts place out east years ago. I'll try to take a pic tomorrow and post it, make sure it has a 1/2" tip. The SEM guys recomend it also.....reason I know is that I tried a 3/8" tip first :whoops: Didn't come out worth a sh-t.

Green might fly in about a week. Be gone this weekend, but might be ready to spray the cab and fenders the week after....well see of course.

Yes, we can put the cab back on after we swap the springs in the lv......although the time you get here you might be helping me with the box :D

It sprays fine with a 1/2" tip shutz gun. But it comes out pretty thick, kinda like spraying orange peel texture on a wall.

It is a little bumpy, but it looks like any other bedliner I think?
