Got about 4 hours on the lpb tonight, I got a lot done I think, although it might not look like it for 4 hours? I'll let the pics do most of the talking.

Cut out that spot underneath the floor brace I took out yesterday, welded in a new piece, that turned out nice. Primed everything up and spot welded the brace(s) back in. Got everything cleaned up and primed....done with that area.

Moved onto the front A pillar area, took some time to figure out what I was going to do, but started cutting. I don't know if I can explain what I am doing? Pics pretty much say it all. Once I got everything I wanted cut out, I fired up the sandblaster and cleaned any surface rust up and shot a coat of primer over everything.

First and pretty much only area I got to start re-building tonight was the inner rocker panel. Took 2 pieces, but welded up what was gone and cleaned it up. Going to start on the inner A pillar tomorrow, see how that goes I guess?

Hi Shane,

Aaron (Riddler) Pm'd me last night, and I later called him. Spoke with later for a while, super nice guy.

He gave me the info he had and I followed through on it this morning. I was able to get a hold of the guy......and yes, he does have a frame. He's working on pics in the next couple days. I'm actually going to call Aaron right now, see if someone in that area maybe can go take a look personally and get some more pics?

I'll let you know, Thanks at ton!!!!

Matt

Right on...............I hope it works out. Aaron would go look at iT and he is really reserved. It will not be worse that what he says, it would be better.

I see it has a bench seat. Are you interested in the original vinyl for the covers?

Best, Shane

I was going to ask exactly the same question - in addition to a few more.

When you put a patch in, do you back it w/ brass to keep it from burning through?

IIRC, you are using a Hobart 135 (or equivalent) to weld - what size wire are you running?

What wire speed

What heat level?

Thanks, great work and really glad that you found a LPB.

Brian

I use different cutting tools, for different jobs, but on this one I am using the Dewalt 4 1/2" grinder with 1/16" cutting wheel on it. Shear doesn't work that well on curves and in several areas I have to cut through the first layer of 18 ga. metal and not cut through the piece underneath, so a shear wouldn't work for that.

No brass or anything on the backside.....I cut my panels very, very close to exact and fit them in pretty tight. And I don't burn though :)

.028 wire / heat setting A(which is the lowest), and set the wire speed around 25. Burp the wire into the orginal steel at a 45 degree angle and instantly drag it on to the new stuff to tack it together. When I have it tacted where it isn't going to move....I start my welds on the edge of a previous weld. Do about a 1/4" at time, all over the place. Take your time and don't get it to hot.

Hope this helps, Matt

Your right, no one will ever see that.......I even wondered if I should bother :D

But, figured what the hell....I'm here now, might as well do it. ;)

Matt,

I am back from my expedition and after work hell finishes Saturday I should be able to take a drive Sunday and take a look at the potential I had in mind for you.

Just didn't want you to think I'd forgotten and hope it is still there.
