So you have like what 10 hours into bodywork and the driver's side is already done? And that was the worst side? :

I said from the begining that the cab really wasn't that bad :D

And it really isn't that bad, pretty much flat panels. Easy to make and easy to weld in. I'm thinking probably finish up the metal work on the cab by next weekend.....hopefully if all goes well. Then start shooting ureathane primer and sanding out. Get it nice and straight and ready for paint......;)

Superb! It's shots like that that make me re-evaluate how I look at rust and what can be achieved. Damn, I sold my 45 (years ago) because I thought the body was getting a little tired and needed more work than I thought I could handle but she was mint compared to the tub you are bringing back from the dead!

Loving this thread.

edit : ever considered a troopie frame from Oz or would freight be too pricey? I picked up a 40 chassis for AU$350 IIRC a couple of years ago. So I guess that would be a price starting point.

Woody should pay you for your build threads.:)

Simply amazing.

Got a solid 4 hours on the lpb tonight.

First thing I did tonight is start on that right rocker panel. Pretty much the same as the other side. Had to make a couple braces and spot weld to it, just like the factory one. Just took my time and started tacking. After everything was welded in ground my welds down and flushed everything up. Towards the rear I must have gotten it a tad hot because it was pushed in a bit. Busted out the stud gun and pulled it out, I think I got it pretty nice.

Moved onto the mid floor brace. Cleaned it up with the blaster and primed the brackets and the floor where the bracket was going to go. Spot welded the brace back in, lined up the old holes and weld. As soon as that one was done I moved onto the upper body mount brace. Same as above, line up the old holes, clamp and weld.

After all that was done ground down my welds, fired up the blaster and cleaned everything up. I also tacked on straps on the inside of the passenger rocker panel where the fuel line was strapped in on that side. Amazingly the old one still had 2 on so I new where they went.

When everything was cleaned up, mixed up a batch of DP50LF epoxy and shot a couple coats. I think overall, pretty nice patch work. When it comes time to the final body work in those areas it should clean up fast and nice.

Hoping to get the tub upside down tomorrow night and start on that last rear quarter panel. That corner is going to take a bit longer since I have to remove the mount bracket and replace some floor. Should be fairly straight forward, just going to take some time.

Not a lot on the lpb tonight, about 1.5 hours.

Had to make up some custom saw horses to hold the tub upside down where I wanted it. That took about 10 minutes, had the neighbor come over and give me a hand flipping it upside down. That went good, now right where I want it to work on it.

Drilled out the spot welds and had to cut a lot of bead welds on the rear cab bracket. After over a half hour, got it popped off. Cleaned up that area and cut out what was left of a piece of quarter panel in my way.

Going to cut out where I marked on the floor. Going to leave what is left of the quarter panel so I can make the floor and flange. That way I can use the rear quarter as a guide to make that right. Then cut out the rear quarter and get that made up and welded in.
