For my FJ45 LWB Middle East spec recently purchased on BAT and supposedly recently imported from Oman.

Frame 318441
Engine 2F 625063

Titled as 1982, any help decoding these numbers would be appreciated. Engine seems to fit the spreadsheet for 1982 but frame number is confusing as far as year.

The truck has 4 wheel drums, power steering, power brakes and non-manual hubs if any of that helps figuring out what year it is.

Thank you.

Tom

It will give you the exact month and year when you enter the vin#. I think Bear is right on the money.

If you have an original 2F in your 40 or 55, please post up your engine serial number, and the month/year of your truck build and the vin if you would. I am trying to complie 2F year data.

I will be posting this up in the 60 section as well.

Thank you for your help!

Steve, we’re is the work product of the engine to frame number query you started back in 2006?

So, my fj40 frame is coming up as 2/79 on the ToyoDIY site but my 2f engine number according to the spreadsheet looks to be maybe from 1975? Am I reading this correctly?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to learn more about my Toyota FJ40, specifically where and when it was made. The vehicle has a 2F engine and originally comes from Switzerland. The block number of the engine is 2F521202.

I've been doing some research but haven't been able to find concrete information on the manufacturing location or the exact year it was made. If anyone has knowledge about how to decode these numbers or any insights into the production history of FJ40s with 2F engines, I would really appreciate your help!

Thanks in advance!

It may be on the other side over there, but here in the USA if you open the driver's side door it will reveal the VIN plate turned up on its side towards the front of the FJ40. On there you will see the build date. That will be important to know as you source parts because sometimes there were changes made mid year. When I order parts I always tell them mine is a 1971 with a build date of DEC 1970. I'll attach a pic of what the plate looks like. I wish there was a way to get the vehicle history from the VIN number, but there is not. I even called a Toyota dealership to see if they could and they said no.

I would look in the glove box and under the seats to see if it is loose there somewhere. If not, I've been told (I'm fairly new here and just got my FJ40 a couple of months ago) the number is in 3 places. 1 where I mentioned, another one on the frame somewhere (I don't know where) and I think they said 1 on the engine block. Seems like there was another information tag on the firewall in the engine compartment. Mine is at the paint and body shop or I would go look to be sure.

Did it come with a Title? That would also tell you the VIN number and what year it is.

Poke around here

@Bear has some very cool posted information on data…look up his posts
