If you have an original 2F in your 40 or 55, please post up your engine serial number, and the month/year of your truck build and the vin if you would. I am trying to complie 2F year data.

I will be posting this up in the 60 section as well.

Thank you for your help!

Steve

I have been on forum for a while, snooper, not much of poster. I am rebuilding a 1973 FJ 40 Landcrusier, and have rebuild the 2F engine.

Vin. FJ40-37507. engine block no. 2102 282

I believe the engine to be original.

Hello, I just bought a 75 FJ40 this past sunday and I wants to see if there is help figuring out if the engine is original.

The block casting has this serial number 2F 017691
The Head has this on the 5 61030 0319 (0819?)
Left Front of the block has
|| 4 ||
61010

The VIN plate says date of mfg is APR 1975

any help is appreciated. Tried to get a valve cover gasket today and neither NAPA or OReilly's could figure out which one. A 10 character VIN also stumps them.

thanks in advance
Kevin

The production date seems to match the block number - see Post #286 on Page 15 of this thread to a link to the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet shows another April 1975 FJ40 with a block number of 2F 017529.

For my FJ45 LWB Middle East spec recently purchased on BAT and supposedly recently imported from Oman.

Frame 318441
Engine 2F 625063

Titled as 1982, any help decoding these numbers would be appreciated. Engine seems to fit the spreadsheet for 1982 but frame number is confusing as far as year.

The truck has 4 wheel drums, power steering, power brakes and non-manual hubs if any of that helps figuring out what year it is.

Thank you.

Tom

Thanks Terrax. Here is the link to the BAT listing with photos.

Love the look of yours. Someday, I hope, mine will look half as nice.

I plan to post more info about the truck after I finish going through it. Bought it as a project with eyes wide open. Seller was very upfront with me about the condition. So far: The good: the frame is in really nice shape. No rust and no obvious major damage, small twist up front where it connects to the front bumper. Drivetrain all works as expected but have not torn into it yet. The bad: the wiring is a rats nest. Will need to be completely redone. Have fixed the ignition issue mentioned in the BAT listing and the truck now starts decently after a carb rebuild. The steering is comical, half a full turn before anything happens. Lots of loose/worn bushings. The ugly: dont know yet what lies beneath the recent paint over. There is an issue with the tailgate where it connects to the body, something is out of alignment.

The plan is to drive it for a bit to see what works and what doesnt and then start taking it apart. I will thank everyone in advance for the million-and-one questions I will have,

Take care.

Tom

PS if there is anyone with a 45 in the Scranton, PA area or on Long Island, please let me know. Would love to take a look at one of these to compare what is and what is not correct on this one.
