Matt laid down the law before I left on Friday.

So, I managed to drive it home in front wheel drive with no rear tailshaft or driveshafts.

Amy has put together a video of the weekend, she decided to put music over it though.... the originals are huge, so can't post them....

Not easy with just a digital still camera in video mode but still entertaining especially when I know how steep some of those bits are.

As for the second loop of the stage you broke the pinion on that look real smooth you were flying up until then.

On the whole a good effort, so are you saving for next year yet?

Maybe it's time we built a TD 75 series Cab Chassis along the line of Clives, coiled of course :D and retired the 40 to been a show pony.

TD Laminova intercooler 75 series diffs with Chromoly 80 series axles front and rear. Hmmm thinking.

Best start selling more intercoolers :D

Hi,

Been a while since I fitted my 30 spline CV’s and axles but I was a little disappointed this weekend when we clean sheared the axle at the point where the C-clip locks it in to the CV. These CV’s and axles have been meticulously maintained to date since fitting. I expect to shear stock rears and break tail shafts from time to time but never the Chromoly axle, I would have been less surprised if the CV had failed.

This is in a 1980 Toyota Landcruiser 40 series running 4.56 diff’s and 35”x11.5”x15” Simex ET2’s and NO V8 just a 2F all be it the world’s most powerful 2F but still a 2F.

If you would like any pictures of this failure I have both parts for my trophy cabinet.

This is not really a complaint more just surprise at what and where we broke it as we do play hard ;-)

The Response.

If the inner axle broke at the snap ring that mean it floated out of the birf and yes it will break at the weakest point. Just send it back and we will warranty it.

It was early days and I was still been gentle :D

Here is a snap shot of the Wolf V500's data log starting in second and shifting at the rev limiter shown in green at the top from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th at 5000RPM 4th to 5th at around 4000RPM

My door is always open to other Cruiser enthusiasts for a cheap holiday.

Matt White for NJ had a great time taking 2 40ft container loads home :D:D

They then took the tail shaft out and made the finish.

I was yelling at him (my navi andrew) that we could unbolt the tailshaft and drive straight after we winched.... My navi had other thoughts, I should have just told him how it was and done it there and then, cauz it's what we had to do in the end anyway!

That stage was just about the most fun for the whole weekend till it snapped. I so want to have another go at that stage, now that I know the car better, braking, accelerating etc.... doesn't look that fast in the video, but we all know when ur in the car it feels so much more!

This was after the first stage of the comp.... could have done it waaaay quicker, but first stage, wasn't sure about it all yet! My first drive of the car offroad was the night before!

Rear diff is out hmmm major ARB locker damage :crybaby:

The damage is from driving to the finish line with the bearing and the bits of crown and pinion going round a little like a washing machine :doh:
