Glad to have tested my transmission cooler out. Highest temperature I seen on this past weekends trip was 203. That was a full training gear load out. Training tire, training recovery gear and Hi Lift Jack winching kit. 900 miles highest ambient temperature was 88.

I think this will be sufficient until I install new gears. New gears will allow the GX to work more efficiently and may not need a larger cooler.

This past weekend I was invited out to the inaugural Panhandle Overland Rally near Bonners Ferry Idaho.

This will become one of the best Overland Rallies in a few years! The venue is amazing with great technical trails from mild to wild.

The camping is dispersed with plenty of room to stretch out. The moon was full and the elk were bugling.

Saturday I held two recovery clinics morning session was Hi Lift Jack and afternoon session was powered winching. Sunday morning I held a in field tire repair session

We had great attendance and enthusiasm!

These rigs were chosen the top three overland vehicles.

Boy, they sure are awfully big for overlanders!
I thought there would have been a Taco in the mix!
I've had a large overlander (F350 crewcab) and they are just too big for many trails, both too wide and too long.
About all you can do with those is fire trails or open terrain, but forget about any high country trails with trees and boulders.
Hence having built up my GX460!

I suggested next year two categories, large and small. There is a regular cab gen 2 Taco behind the Ford. It actually won the grand prize.

The Super Duty is John Burtt, it's a nice setup. I had been seriously considering a Fuso build but the later models 2009+ have lots of DEF system issues and they are prone to rust. I still love them and dream about building or buying one nevertheless.

I agree that Overlanding vehicles have trended more towards these mega rigs in recent years and your average Land Cruiser, Defender, or Tacoma has become the everyman rig when they once were considered the "cool rigs" on the block, it's a shame.

I will never touch another Mitsubishi product myself... burned in my youth with lots of problems/oil burners in their products 80s-early 90s. IMO... different quality level compared to other Japanese automakers.
