I like to plan a trip around my birthday in July. It was a good trip mild trails a good disconnect from the daily grind.

We camped near Mazama WA for a few nights making a day trip up to Slate Peak. The highest road in WA.

Moved on to Chopoka Lake, the last camp on the WABDR, then on to a camp near Republic WA. From there we rolled southwest through the Colville Reservation where we spotted a brown bear crossing the road.

We passed by Grand Coulee Dam and followed the Columbia River for a bit to Ellensburg WA then headed out to West Bar on the Columbia River for a quiet beach spot.

The GX drove very nice and performed as expected. No issues with mods or vehicle. I managed to program my Scangage to monitor transmission temps and only seen as high as 218.

The last two days on the Columbia the temperature reached 100+ degrees so the cool waters of the river were a welcome relief. The window shades from Weather Tech really helped by keeping solar gain low and my ARB fridge working efficiently.

Tidy some items up this weekend. We added extra gussets to the ARB Dual Compressor Mount and one of them ended up blocking installation of the air filter. For my most recent trip I did a quick relocation of the air filter but that looked like crap although functional. I removed the mount, notched the gusset and sprayed just the edge that I ground out. Reinstalled and now is a much cleaner look. I also added a lanyard to the Whits End pacifier on the air chuck.

I’ll be building a shelf/shroud around the compressor mount once the rainy season kicks in a couple months from now. I also finally mounted up Quick Fist to the front of the Truckvault platform. Again another item that didn’t get resolved before the trip and was annoying as I dislike loose rattling possible dangerous items bouncing around on the floor.

Like how tidy your setup is for your compressor is, but> How noisy is that compressor with it being inside the cab? But I guess when you're using it, you're squatting by a tire airing up, or airing up water toys/mattresses, etc., but what about any passengers inside?
Do you have a cover? But that may be counter productive since it'll cause the compressor to heat up more. On the bright side, being inside, it will run cooler which means you should be able to air up your tires quicker!
I have the same compressor under the hood, it runs hot because I have to keep my engine running to use it for any length of time and is pretty loud.
Apology for all the "but's".

Engine heat is one of the many reasons I didn't want in under the hood, dirt, moisture, and submersion all factors in my decision. The GF didn't complain about compressor noise but we were fully loaded with gear so that would have mitigated some of the noise. Its much more quiet than I expected. I did add Dynomat on the brackets to gut down the vibration.

We are heading out again tomorrow for two nights just my GF and I. Hopeful slow roll, take pictures, do some sound db checks of the compressor, highway speeds at 70 mph db checks and see how the changes I've made since our last trip work out. I really enjoy the refinement process.

Sounds fun! If you get into some pretty country take some pic's of you and/or your rig!
Also, a good seat-of-the-pants review of your handy work would be good to hear! Do's/don'ts (hopefully not any don't do's) and thoughts if you were to do it over.

One thing that stuck out quickly on my last big trip by the second night of cooking was my cookware and stove storage. Prior to my simple fix the stove was stored at the bottom of the drawer with cookware stacked on top. If needed to warm a pot water I had to unpack all my cookware, lame. Simple solution was to reverse the stack. Place the cookware under the stove. I grabbed some 1’x1’ L extrusion from the scrap bin at work, buffed the edges, and screwed them the the drawer dividers.

The tea towels and pot holders serve two functions, primarily the intended function but also noise abatement for clanging pots and pans.

Another item that has worked well is the MSR Dromedary bags for water storage.

Dromedary® Bags | Storage Bags | MSR

In my Taco I ran 2 Scepter 20 liter water jugs. On this build I don't have the real estate to accommodate to big hard plastic jugs. I picked up two of the 10 Liter bags and substituted them for one of the Scepters. They fit perfectly on the floor behind the drivers seat and under it. As I drain my main water jug I can resupply it with the Dromedary bags, roll them up and stow them in a very small space. Once at a grocery store they can easily be transported in for a refill at a filtered water machine or bottled gallon jugs.

I keep my stove, lanterns, etc. in a large rolling Pelican case. Drop that case in the back along with the galley (cook toolbox), a couple of chairs, port-a-potty and we're off! It takes all of 5 minutes to pack. We spend more time figuring out what the weather is where we will be and what clothes to pack.
I still would like to do a drawer system to make it even more efficient. I still envy you all with those nice drawer systems...

Ditto, I can't wait for the Goose Gear Sleep system to drop so that I can move forward with my interior build out.

I thought Goose Gear had a plate system for the GX 460?

A plate system for the cargo area yes, but not a sleep system for the entire back portion of the truck. It should be out by years end.

My build is a bit unique with the second row removed. Neither of the current Goose Gear nor Front Runner address second row removed. I'm sure booth would be cheaper than Truckvault though.

Yea the GG Sleep Platform will remove the second row, similar to how they offer it on the JK/JL and 4Runner. No clue how much it'll add but we all know you shed 100lbs when removing the third row and even more removing the tops/backs if not all of the second row as well. I do know that the FrontRunner system is very heavy.
