Hey maybe they are trying to boost Toyota sales and less Lexus sales???

Hahahaha

The lead Land Cruiser engineer is going to be at CruiserFest this year. Come on out and see what he has to say!

View attachment 1116976 This new Tacoma does not look bad; who is in charge over there?????

What's over your eyes? Child filters? That Tacoma looks just as ridiculous as the LX. Makes me think it's a new character to go with Tommy the Train or some crap like that.

Seriously, this recent direction in design from Japan on the larger vehicles is pure crazy.

lol hey when you are given a choice over these vehicles; i'm scanning the bottom of the barrel trying to find something good lol

Nice!!!! I'll make sure to be there

Really? You have to ask him what is up with that? He probably does not have Lexus input. But ask anyway

Honestly if you think about it; the designers were probably told "give it a new nose without changing the fenders!" So if you think about it I bet the fenders are exact as a 2013 on up model.

I think it was the Autobots. I see this in the next movie. It's persona will be a Mr. T type character with a huge chain around its neck.

POI. On the Toyota US website under "upcoming vehicles" , it shows a few faced lifted 2016 models but no mention of the Landcruiser

bump, anything on the LC?

One thing I am curious about is the interior spy shots if, this mean the true Land Cruiser lineup (Hardcore Offroader model and, the Pampered Grocery Getter) will come back to the states! Thus, could this spyshot of the interior prove that Toyota could be making a premium and standard model?

In that pic ^ i only see the fully loaded interior???

They always made standard models of the LC! Its just the US never got them, i mean sure back in the the days of the 80/100 you got some without sunroofs/rear ac and cloth seats but still not really base if you compare world wide.

The 70's came in a bare bones model for other countries. Same with some of 80s and 90s. The 100 series over here sold for 50k compared to the 200 selling for around 80k!

I should have clarified that maybe, this could be the return of the 100 series lineup format for the states!...

A standard"Americanized" Trim with heated seats, GPS, backup camera, Leather interior, Blue-Ray/DVD player, etc..

and the Limited Trim with all of your Standard Trim options in addition to a polished wood dashboard, heated rear seats, center console refrigerator and, a lot more!

I doubt the US would ever get a 'bare bones' 200/300 series LC. It would be neat to have an option delete one that could be special ordered, but alas...

Looking at prices around the world, a base LC appears to sell around $50k-$55k (usd). Perhaps someone can correct me on that, I just sampled various countries prices and converted to USD.

So, a vinyl land cruiser for $50k. The issue is that the Sequoia already takes that price range, and it has a few options. The cheapest 4wd Sequoia is ~$49-$50k, and has the 5.7l engine. The Sequoia, a larger vehicle, built on a similar frame, with arguably more expensive IRS & better ride - for a few grand less - it would be a hard sell for the LC.

As for value, the Tundra can't be beat. It's amazing that you can get similar underpinnings as the LC, for around $38k (4wd, double cab w/ 5.7). The interest fact is that the Tacoma is not that far off of the Tundra price - for a *much* lighter built vehicle.

I think we're living in the past in regards to what we *wished* the LC was here. Reading comments (tacoma world) about the new (2016) Tacoma, there are quite a few posts about how the Tacoma should be more upscale because cheaper vehicles offer leather, push button start, sun roof, leather, pearl paint, etc... Makes me feel out of place in this world.

I sen the new Tacoma but it was at the New York auto show and was behind ropes etc could not get a inside look. By the way not everyone lives in Texas!! The Tundra is great but its just to BIG! if they put that 1748 interior in the Land Cruiser I would buy it. I live in the suburbs but work in the city and its just difficult to park a full size pickup where I go. in my parking place I see 2 F150 on a regular basis and they are SQUEEZED in to a spot; one of them already got attacked by the concrete pillar lol :) by he way does anyone know if the 70 that was on sale in Japan had airbags??? would they bring that state side? or would it at the 4runner's sales. Honestly we are all just wishing here toyota does what it wants

Well said.

Surprisingly yes, they do sell the special edition 70 series with airbags [only front ones though]! Unfortunately, if i remember correctly (please correct me if I mess up...) that the United States requires special 'Advanced' airbags (with the weight detection processing of a small child, [to disable the airbag], Side airbags [Torso and Curtan])! [isin't this why Pagani and Lotus were banned from the US a couple of years ago?]

with the side ones, Austin Martin got in trouble too for not including them on there cars (But due to being low volume, low production, by proving financial hardship, and, proving there next gen vehicles will be equipped with them, the NHTSA cleared them of the requirement?)

Also for safety, I believe every vehicle has to have a back up camera? (Edit: Backup camera required in all US Market cars by May 1, 2018)

Seatbelt alarms (for unbuckled motorists)
Black boxes for crashes (that monotor speed, g's, and location of a crash?)
And finally, being crash tested by the [NHSTA] (multiple times)?

Then there is emissions and EPA fuel economy:( (Don't even get me started on this one!)

Overall, all of these "Americanized"regulations make it expensive to import (or even build) a car for the American Market! Even if a vehicle has NCAAP scores, the US Government has to do them over again at the price of the manufacturer:bang:!

Since Land Cruisers are hand-built in Japan, there is not much hope and, Toyota appears to push the new 4Runners more and more (They even axed the FJ)!:( One of my neighbors has a 2015 4Runner and, one of these days, i'll ask him to take a ride in it to see if it feels as good as the last 100 series US spec!
