ooh, interesting design theme just noticed on the LC. A 1995 LC 80 front end/grill/headlamp area actually inspires the supposed new LC 2016 grill with horizontal extension into the headlamps. I realize on the 80 it has the grill frame/space split under the actual headlamp but it looks 100% derived to me.

I just sold my '94 for $17K.
I don't miss it at all. After getting the 200 Series, I got to a point where my wife and I couldn't force each other to drive the 80. The interior was cheap / dated, the drivetrain slow, the head gasket and PHH issues always looming, always wondering when a birf re-pack was coming, etc.
I really love the 200. I'm surprised at the price I got for my 80 -- all good.

That baby looks just like my old 95. Wish I kept it forever.
Sad thing is, in the 12 years of owning an 80, nobody, and I mean NOBODY, ever said, "Nice looking truck" --
I actually spent some time with the Toyota US market lead for the Land Cruiser this afternoon...
I'm curious with Toyota's Battle Plan with the USA spec Land Cruiser!
They went from 15k units sold for the $50k Land cruiser 100 series (2000) to 3k units sold (for the 200 series) in 2014!
There should be some room for margin. Like, the 4Runner should top out at the limited trim and, the Land Cruiser start above bare bones (kinda like the 100 with the regular trim and the Limited Trim!) for around $55k
Asking for a +- 5k margin for price is more reasonable than maxing the LC out and, slapping a $15k price tag to the model!
I'm curious about this too. I sold my 80 last December & have been trying to figure out what to get next. Unfortunately the newer Toyota truck platforms just don't interest me.
In my area, it seems everyone stopped buying Toyota trucks after 2007/2008. I see dozens of 100 series & first generation Tundra/Sequoia trucks compared to second generation Tundra/Sequoia or 200 series Land Cruisers. Perhaps Toyota missed the mark with styling & supersizing.
Wow same.
I'm a new driver (about to get my license) and, my 2 choices for rides (reasonable) would be a 3rd gen 4Runner or a 80 series LC. My rational is that new Toyota is not as good as old Toyota.
In my house, we have 2 Toyota Trucks; a base 2003 100 series LC and a 2011 Highlander Limited. Out of the two, we all prefer the 100 series (even though it has almost 298,000 miles!) The 100 series rides better, handles the terrain better and, it is so good, whenever we take it in for maintenance, our dealership wants to buy it from us (That ain't happening!)
The 200 series was out of the question (for my parents) because of the price point and, being too blingy!
Overall, after the 105, Toyota has lost it and ruined the LC:
In 2003, Toyota have tried to make the 4Runner the next Land Cruiser and, that is where Toyota expects us to spend our money for a true offroader!
