ooh, interesting design theme just noticed on the LC. A 1995 LC 80 front end/grill/headlamp area actually inspires the supposed new LC 2016 grill with horizontal extension into the headlamps. I realize on the 80 it has the grill frame/space split under the actual headlamp but it looks 100% derived to me.

That baby looks just like my old 95. Wish I kept it forever.

I just sold my '94 for $17K.

I don't miss it at all. After getting the 200 Series, I got to a point where my wife and I couldn't force each other to drive the 80. The interior was cheap / dated, the drivetrain slow, the head gasket and PHH issues always looming, always wondering when a birf re-pack was coming, etc.

I really love the 200. I'm surprised at the price I got for my 80 -- all good.

You got to admit it was better looking ;)

I actually like the 200's looks more -- maybe it was the color -- I've got a pearl white now, and the 80 was emerald green -- I just never got along in to the color.

The 200 just grows on you, I think -- initially, I wasn't in to it, then to now, where I prefer its lines.

Sad thing is, in the 12 years of owning an 80, nobody, and I mean NOBODY, ever said, "Nice looking truck" --

-- though they did with the 62.

Weird.

Blasphemy !

Learning more about the 80 updates the 95+ does have a more modern interior than the -94. Sort of like how my 1996 Discovery seems way more dated than what is still a pretty cool interior in my 2004 Discovery even though the non-enthusiast would probably see them about the same from outside. My 2004 is kind of like the 1997 LC 80 in that it's the last US market Land Rover with solid axle front/rear, center locked, strong/simple gutter mount type roof, modern-ish overall but still fairly easy to get into the engine area and without a million little doo dads underneath.

So getting back on track - what year is the redesigned 300 actually coming out ?

I get compliments all the time on my 2008 ... IMHO a good set of wheels and a mild lift makes the 200 series a very appealing vehicle.. Stock wheels are rather boring ...

Completely redesigned state of the art 300 series should be due around 2018/2019.

2008 - 2011 ( 200 series series 1 )

2012-2015 ( 200 series series 2 )

2016 - 2018/19 ( 200 series series 3) ?????

I'm curious with Toyota's Battle Plan with the USA spec Land Cruiser!

They went from 15k units sold for the $50k Land cruiser 100 series (2000) to 3k units sold (for the 200 series) in 2014!

There should be some room for margin. Like, the 4Runner should top out at the limited trim and, the Land Cruiser start above bare bones (kinda like the 100 with the regular trim and the Limited Trim!) for around $55k

Asking for a +- 5k margin for price is more reasonable than maxing the LC out and, slapping a $15k price tag to the model!

I actually spent some time with the Toyota US market lead for the Land Cruiser this afternoon...

Care to elaborate or were you planning to just tease us?!

I actually don't understand the rear screen stuff; ALL kids now a days have iPads or phones and pick their own video choices. The mouse pad thing is funky and I don't like it but it just what Lexus has in all the other models. The RX that I have gotten for loaners takes some time to get use to but it's just what we have to get use to. I really hope it looks better in person; I'm not impressed from the pics!

Glad they moved the cup holders. Lol hey does anyone else think that trim thing on the D pillar is hideous?

I'm curious about this too. I sold my 80 last December & have been trying to figure out what to get next. Unfortunately the newer Toyota truck platforms just don't interest me.

In my area, it seems everyone stopped buying Toyota trucks after 2007/2008. I see dozens of 100 series & first generation Tundra/Sequoia trucks compared to second generation Tundra/Sequoia or 200 series Land Cruisers. Perhaps Toyota missed the mark with styling & supersizing.

Just FYI the 200 series so far has sold more than any of it's predecessors. Just last year they sold over 120 thousand 200's not including LX 570 which is around 30k. LX 570 especially is doing so so much better than the lx 470 in terms of sales. Range Rover better watch it's back, LX is gaining on it world wide and it already lost the GCC market to the LX.

hey GX-R thanks so much for posting the pics please if you come across more post them up; I am also looking for a new LC or LX and want to get as much info as possible. thanks again

Wow same.

I'm a new driver (about to get my license) and, my 2 choices for rides (reasonable) would be a 3rd gen 4Runner or a 80 series LC. My rational is that new Toyota is not as good as old Toyota.

In my house, we have 2 Toyota Trucks; a base 2003 100 series LC and a 2011 Highlander Limited. Out of the two, we all prefer the 100 series (even though it has almost 298,000 miles!) The 100 series rides better, handles the terrain better and, it is so good, whenever we take it in for maintenance, our dealership wants to buy it from us (That ain't happening;)!)

The 200 series was out of the question (for my parents) because of the price point and, being too blingy!

Overall, after the 105, Toyota has lost it and ruined the LC:

In 2003, Toyota have tried to make the 4Runner the next Land Cruiser and, that is where Toyota expects us to spend our money for a true offroader!

Get a 1995-1997 FZJ80 with no rust and enjoy your new ride.

I really don't think it has anything to do with design, as it does price. A fully loaded Sequoia is near the $70k mark, and the 200/570 is $81.5k and $90k (respectively).

I think that they really priced themselves out of the market. Buyers, at least around where I live, want people to know how much money they have; they buy Range Rovers (all over the damn place), Escalades, G-Series, etc. If you (the public) is going to spend all that money, they want everyone to know about it. I blame social media (Hey, look at me and look, here's a picture of the car my hubby just bought!), where everyone wants to make everyone else envious. The 200 does not fit that bill.

Me personally, I like the below the radar, not in-your-face-look-at-how-loaded-I-am 200/570.

Now, that being said, the styling is not perfect, but it should not be to blame for the low sales numbers. Look worldwide; they sell like hotcakes. The U.S. market is all about materialism and vanity, and that, in my humble opinion, is why the numbers are low.

Just my $0.02

My 08 is not blingy!
