I have read this thread and I have been faithfully following the progress here. My wife and I are eager to buy a new Cruiser. We never bought it back in 2013. Do we know roughly when the "refreshed" model will be available here in the states. The local sales manager told me he can order a 2016 in august. Whether or not that is the newer style is unknown. Do you guys know?!?!?! Thanks!

Makes sense he can order in August as this is when they go into production. It should be on sale around October/November at the most.

Some more info...

4.0 v6 LC = 6 speed ( auto ) i assume the manual will also be 6 speed now?

4.6 v8 LC = 8 Speed

5.7 V8 LC = 8 Speed

That's actually kind of exciting in a way. I've driven an 8 spd ZF in the 2015 Land Rover but with a supercharged V6. Pretty much every LR4 V8 owner wishes Land Rover had stuck with the V8 but combined it with that new 8 spd.
It's incredibly smooth and allows for a higher highway gear for more mpg.

I can only imagine how sweet this Toyota combination V8/8 will be.

If only it were also the TDV8-8 :)

This is all good news. When do you guys think we can hope to hear an official announcement from Toyota regarding the changes and availability. If orders start in August, I would think an announcement would have to come pretty soon. Only weeks away now.

Look for an announcement in August as well. Before then we will most likely have more leaks with much better pictures and more info.

My guess 14city /20 hwy

If they get to 23 hwy mpg, that would be huge

Sounds like maybe you shouldn't try to be too picky ;)

I think Everytime Toyota changes the LC/LX they make it uglier. My 80 was better looking then my 100 and my 100 is better looking then my 2011 200 and my 2011 200 is better looking then the 2013-2015 LX and based on the pictures we're in for an even uglier 300 series. JMHO. But I don't think I am alone in this opinion. I would love to have a 200 series that looks more like an 80 series.

Love the 5.7 V8, this baby is to big for a 4.6 V8. The 4.0 V6 is for a base 4Runner. The 8 speed brings more complexity and with complexity come problems with reliablity, LC/LX is known for being reliable and dependable.

Biggest question is when can we see actual photos (not computer generated) of either one! Also anyone think it's odd that the LX will have a different D pillar? That does not seem cost effective; or is it just a fancy trim piece???

I agree with the 80 series being the best; would love to have an 80 series with all the modern convinces and V8 plus 50,oooo air bags

I doubt they will get to 23. When Jeep went to 8 speed they gained 1-2 miles, when GM did with their big SUVs there was no gain. If they also made changes to the engine to make it more efficient (without Turbos or adding DI) the best I think they could get is 14/20.

unfortunately, the 80 series looks dated, as does the 100 series -- everything progresses, it seems. plus, the 80 series brakes are abysmal.

Personally I feel the 100 has aged very well considering the design was frozen in 1994 and it went on sale in 1998. Especially the 06 07 with updated lights.

I'm skeptical about turbo as a good solution. I don't think they are reliable.

G class Mercedes has been the same forever. Jeep's look pretty much the same. They change things up because it moves vehicles. Most people can't tell one year from another. My daughter and son-inlaw thought my 100 series was the new LX and the 200 series LX was the old one. It's not that they don't own expensive cars, they have a new RR sport and Mercedes S class. People not into 100 and 200 series can't tell one year from another. It's hard for me to tell the difference between RR's year over year.

totally agree the G wagon and jeep have basically been the same for many years just update to modern convinces; excellent approach and departure angles etc. Look at a few year old escalade; you can tel how old they are. I am definitely for progress!!! More air bags, better engine, better reliability but keep what works. I honestly think the new 300 concept looks just like the Acura even the D pillar has that stupid swish
