Well when I got in and drove it, it felt huge. Maybe its just the feel I got, but it seemed much wider than a 100 which is already a bit wide. I didn't measure it or look up any specs. When I was in moab we had a couple of 80s and a 100, the hundy seemed to have a little more trouble it seemed to me than the 80s. I assume its because the 100 is bigger. I cant imagine wheeling through fairly tight spots with anything bigger than a 100. But I guess I can't say for sure until I see one on the trail and observe what happens.:meh:

Here's a nice pairing of the 100 and 200 in some pretty rough stuff... See what you think:

Then...check this Dubai resident out in a mostly stock LC on the Dunes. Basically only King upgrade. Fun video:

The title, "Sleeper Land Cruiser" is appropriate...because the average American has no idea what these trucks can do:

Markuson :)

Cool.

kind of not fair as it's really not a true "100 series"....

Not a true 100? Oh... Because of the standard front axle?
OK. But if anything... the fact that the 200 keeps up as well as it does speaks to the question.

5.7 V8 Underpowered?!? What do you drive every day? What is your perspective?

Our 2008 specs show 0-60 in around 6.5 to 6.8 seconds. That's reasonably quick no matter the size of the vehicle.

I was for sure impressed. However one thing to keep in mind is that in tighter areas that would be tough to maneuver. I would like to see it pitted against 4x4s of similar size of different brands. That would be interesting to see.

Ya, I hear ya. Youtube does have quite a good number of such videos. I just watched one comparing a 200 and a Nissan Patrol in Australia. It's interesting, but always subject to comments like, "I think the driver of the ____ was more experienced than the driver of the ____."

Also... When people get into arguments about "off-roading," my impression is that very often, they are talking about VERY different things. There are ROCK CRAWLERS....and there are OVERLANDERS. It's a Huge difference in purpose, methods and builds.

For me... I'm not very interested in rock crawling as a central use...or I would probably not buy a LC. But for Over-landing that frequently includes the need for reasonable articulation in conquering the occasional rock barriers, mud, snow, gravel, and generally rough terrain...the Land Cruiser is amazing.

I've driven to the Arctic Ocean twice...where you end up (if you can) traveling at high speeds over rough roads, or occasionally NO ROADS for hundreds of miles without services. For THAT? There is no vehicle on Earth I'd rather have than a Land Cruiser. -But that's not everyone's idea of the idea of off-roading.

I wish we had a more diverse set of terms that were in common use in the US. We tend to call everything "off roading" but that's just too simple. Are you a rock crawler? Are you a baja racer? Do you simply need to navigate snow? Are you a mud-bogger? Are you a dunes runner? A Jumper? A thick-forest navigator? Are you just a BIG LIFT guy who mainly just likes to tower over traffic (and hope you don't tip over)? :). ALL of these get lumped into "off-road vehicle."

My personal experience is that for overloading and dealing with generalized rough stuff...Land Cruisers are amazing. For other more specialized "off road" activities...of course it won't win all categories.

yea, the video was of a 105 with solid axles and lockers with a substantial lift.... which is a very remarkable truck. The 200 did great for what it is in that shot.

Well I do live at 6000 feet, so Im sure that slows it a bit.

The 5.7 200 has to be the most powerful and fastest stock Cruiser ever ...at any elevation.

Do you DD a sports car?

I posted up a thread where i went wheeling on super tight jeep trails with multiple different rigs! The only rig that could not navigate everything was the tundra! My 200 easily went everywhere and as easy as the 4runner, jeep and tacoma! The 200 wheels small and turn assist actually works well in tight spots!
A 200 and some other rigs...

Here is a followup video to the one i posted last week. Same guy made it. This one shows all the new lighting features in detail.

AT NIGHT: 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Interior and E…:

I DD a lotus Elise, and the 200 has plenty of power for what it is

It isn't the G65 my brother has, but I don't expect the 200 to compete with the G

That Elise looks like a fun little car...

Toyota engine even! :)

I would like to see it have more power. At my elevation it probably looses 50hp. I didn't say it was slow, but it's not impressively fast. Yes it's the fastest cruiser ever from Toyota, but that's not saying a lot. I definitely think a supercharger should be a factory option. If your spending 95k, what's another 5 to 10 grand?

When I drove my 100 series up to Brianhead, which means a highway above 10,000ft...my 100 lost power like CRAZY. But...I think I had a faulty sensor. I'm curious to see what the 200 will do at similar altitude.

Those who drove the 13,000 trail each year should be able to comment...though it's likely harder to notice in 4 low. I was on a HIGHWAY at 10,000 ft, so the difference was incredibly obvious. But then the 100 had around 150 less horses than the 200 (WOW!).

Here is new Test review video if a US spec unit.

Here the most detailed side by side comparison of the US spec 2016 LC and LX that I have seen. This same guy had made a similar video of the 2013 back when those first came out.

MAN that LX Grill is uuuugleh... (YOMV...) ;)

I wonder if you would even be able to mount an ARB front bumper...since the area you'd normal trim is all grill now... ??
