Hello,

I have a 2014 LC that is having some parking sensor issues. I have attempted to disconnect the battery overnight, clear the codes and scan again, checked fuses, physical connections to the sensors, and the parking ECU ("Intuitive P/A") state - all looks good. Techstream continues giving me C1AEC and C1AED codes. When I click the parking assist button I get a warning stating that all sensors are having some issues, or in Toyota language "Check Sonar System". Backup/side/front cameras work fine. Sonar works and is able to keep appropriate distance from the vehicle in front as well.

I have found a similar question here, but it never got resolved:

Does anyone have suggestions on what I else I can check?
Any help is highly appreciated, thank you all.

This may be useful, or maybe completely irrelevant to you, but I'm working on a thread idea where I tracked down some fog light issues to a multi-pin connector that sends all the electronic signals to the front bumper. There is a gasket in this connector which had degraded and let water in, corroding pins in there, and in my case leading to fog light issues. The front ultrasonic sensors pass through this harness as well.. is why I brought it up.

The bad thing is getting good access to that connector means pulling the front bumper skin. If you want to check the connector itself, pull the plastic trim above the core support and look down in front of the AC condenser on the driver's side. There will be a black and white connector there attached to the core support. It's tough to open, you squeeze some detents then pull a locking lever up.. which for a road-driven vehicle has sand and stuff in it. But if you can get it open you may be able to inspect the pins through the lower grille slats.

I'm not really sure why this rubber is degrading when toyota's other connectors hold up so well, but this is also a very different format than they usually use. I bought a new connector and will replace it in the next few weeks, at which point I'll post that thread and how-to. Sorry it's not ready yet.

I jumped in my 2018 today and randomly got the same codes. Never had it happen before. Looked around for a bit and checked all sensor connections, but can't figure it out. I'm lucky and have a competent dealership, so I'm taking it to them tomorrow. I'll report back on what they find.

I would highly appreciate it. I also scheduled an appointment to get this looked at as well but its 2 weeks from now... Would much prefer figure this out and fix it on my own given I've spent so much time in this rabbit hole already :)

Hello, wanted to check in with you and see if you were able to fix your issue? Would be super useful before I give mine to the service folks. Thank you!

I broke one front sensor while installing my bumper which sent me down a rat hole of trying to get the parking sense function to work again. I bought 2 or 3 replacement sensors that turned out to be counterfeit before I realized that only genuine Toyota units will work correctly even though the counterfeits can sometimes be functional in a single position when you test with Techstream. The way these are wired in series in the LC seems to fail with non genuine units. I even tried a new parking ECU before I realized I was getting counterfeit sensors.....got a genuine Toyota sensor and everything came back online.

In your case with both front and rear sensors circuits out, either you have multiple failures in the discrete front/rear circuits OR a failure at a single point like the parking ECU or a fuse or connector etc.

Unfortunately, the next morning when I left the house to take my vehicle in, the issue was gone. They told me not to worry about coming in since they wouldn't be able to pull any codes or trace the problem. So, for now, I'll have to see if it comes back.

I wonder if its the Back Up Battery (Lexus people refer to it as BUB). On LX570 it sits behind the glove compartment so I imagine it would be similar in a Land Cruiser as well. I've seen people get the B15EC and one of the sensor codes together.

Update on this issue. I've fixed a while ago but figured the solution is worth sharing.
In short, the shop told me I "need a new parking computer and cables". I thought it's too vague and I would like to investigate myself.

I took it home and took the plastic off from underneath the glove compartment (4-5 clips, no screws). I then unscrewed the parking computer (4 screws, 3 cables, part #86792-60500) and disassembled it. I found a tiny bit of corrosion but it wasn't much. I figured the best/cheapest bet is to buy a new computer and plug it in myself, then see if I need the cables... I found out that parking ECU part #86792-60500 is now replaced with part #86792-60501. Got it for around $700 online (SparksParts, shop quoted $1.1k for the computer), plugged it in, put everything back together.

However, it did not work immediately. I then went to service mode and calibrated the backup camera by turning the wheel all the way left and right. Once that was done all the sensors started beeping and backup lines were accurate.
Hope this helps!

So I replaced my front two sensors and and I have never gotten it to work again. The sensors were purchased from Amayama online.
Months later I took the front bumper off to do some more maintenance and disconnected the main cable. Still didn't see anything wrong.

I'm still battling this issue. Techstream has confirmed the front two are the problem.
