Nicole and I should be there. Hopefully I can start wrenching on the rig now that my shoulder is on the mend. Need to put on that fender and the new bumper, that I got before last years run...

See you folks in Sept.

would I be "shunned" if I trailered the rig down?
running out of time!
still trying to figure out if we can make it.

I don't think so. You certainly wouldn't be the only one.

You aren't the only one. Not only do I doubt I can get the time off, but IF I can, it'd either be the 45 run or backpacking with Lars... Good thing I don't get much, if any say in my schedule, and chances of holding a weekend off are slim to none, so....

heck, i trailer my rig up there and i live three hour away. the trailer and tow-rig have come in handy.....

Can you describe the event a bit or give a link to more info. Where is Deer Valley, CA. I was not able to find it on the map, I know its up in the Sierra just could not pin point it. How hard is the trail into site? I'm running a bone stock 1980 HJ45 Troopy with an H engine. I have never 4 wheeled this rig and it currently doesn't even run, though I'm hoping to have it functional by September.

The event is at the Deer Valley TRAIL, there isn't a deer valley CA

the easiest way in is at blue lakes off hwy 88 the trail head is right after the lake..

I know Georg and others have driven their troopies in from that side..

Is this the general area of the trail?

With Mark's info and this (Georg sent me this info)... you should get there just fine...

Go to the end of blue lakes road to the campground. hook a left at the stop and keep going past the boat ramp. at the last cabin you'll see the beginning of the trail on the right side. it turns into a dirt road there. follow that for about 2 miles along the stream. at that point you'll come to a big open meadow and the first creek crossing. that's the spot, in the trees on the right. can't miss it.

Mark... you bringn the 60 or the 40?

I added emphasis to this. You CAN get lost--sort of. I drove down the trail around midnight but got concerned that I had driven about 2 miles and hadn't seen anybody, so I convinced myself that I was clearly on the wrong trail. So I turned around (which is a small ordeal in and of itself) and camped along the side of the trail to let the sun give me some help. Of course in the morning I didn't have to wait long before I saw some cruisers, and true to the description, once you get to the meadow: you can't miss it. So, armed with the above map and description you should be fine, just don't worry until you get to the creek crossing (not just a trickle across the trail, it's a creek) and you'll avoid my mistake.

Planning to sneak away for a day and run in to say hello, have a beer, and checkout the cruisers.

Thanks Mark. After this weekend I was sure I wasn't going to make it. Now I'm thinking again.
Maybe we'll bring the 62 series, Esther just isn't sure about riding "that" far in the pickup!
Tina will be there?
I'll get this figured out this week.

Yup. After she heard about Jerod having to escort me to my tent, she decided she better keep an eye on me herself. Apparantly, I've got a reputation!
