New to me 79 FJ45

Those are Toyota originals I had re-webbed.
Michael are you saying that those are the original retractors? What market is your 45? There was not a retractable option in GCC FJ45s (Saudi Spec, et. al.) FWIW.

Edit: Must be Canada spec. Just found these two variations in the parts diagrams for Canadian FJ45s.

Where is everyone getting their 45 parts these days. I used to buy all my parts from CruiserDan or Onur. I’ve also both parts from cruiser outfitters as they’re local but their available parts seems spotty.

I need:
full rubber seal kit for the whole cab/windows/vents.

Coolant temp sending unit

Various internal door and window mechanisms

I’ve been able to find various parts on individual sites but haven’t found a one stop shop, maybe that’s not available.

Has anyone had any luck w reproduction rubber seals or are OEM usually recommended. I usually buy all OEM but the reproduction ones at cruiser corps are 1/2 the price.

Thanks in advance!

We should have all the cab & door rubber, as well as the coolant temp sensor. Door internals are hit/miss as a great deal are NLA and used parts are scarce for your doors as they are the late model vent window, never offered in the US.

Cool I’ll take a trip down to you guys and load up whatever you guys have that fits. Thanks!

Shoot over an email with your detailed vehicle specs and a list of what you are after. The non-US 45's take a bit of research/digging to pull up all the parts. The front counter guys don't always have the bandwidth or resources like our tech and parts engineers. Info@cruiseroutfitters.com

There should be a captive nut at the top of the B pillar (at least I think that would be the B pillar). It wouldn't go through the top. Parts diagrams are absolutely showing two options, lap belts and 3-point harnesses. The 3-point harnesses are manual adjustment and non retracting. Basically a lap belt with an adjustable shoulder harness attached.

I bought some for my Troopy that will work for your pickup. I can try to find the details if you are interested. I assume you have the split bench seat in the front?
I took out the rubber plug up there and it feels like it’s just an open hole in my model so I’d have to try to weld in a captive nut.

Will do thanks!

Captive nut would be best but I think you would need to get to the backside. Rivet nuts come in lots of different strengths and of course are installed from the front. The OEM seatbelt bolt would be a 7/16-20 UNF thread. Not sure where to find a rivet nut in that size. You might have to substitute; just something to be aware of when discussing options with Seatbelt Planet or others.

Do you have the holes lower down for the retractor assembly? I'm guessing not. I have non retractor, 3 point belts in my Troopy and although not ideal, they are not uncomfortable if adjusted properly. You would only need the one top bolt to install them.

It looks like it came with a newer/reman transfer case albeit bone dry. Couldn’t feel any oil as far down as I could stick my finger. I should have checked it before driving it, it was about a quart or so low so I hope I didn’t ruin anything. I don’t know why the previous Saudi owner didn’t have a correct set of metric wrenches, essentially every drain or fill plug is buggered up.

And at some point someone decided to weld the rear differential drain plug😩 that should be fun trying to get out…

The transfercase oil could be migrating into the transmission. When you’re able to get the transmission fill plug loose, if it is overfilled, that’s where it went. For a quick work around you could install a bypass hose between both fill ports as a oil level equalizer. Supplied and created by @shipmag

I was able to get most everything for the cab, well like 75-80% of it, from Toyota for the 80-84 45. Body rubber and weatherstripping that is.

Cheers

Good to know, the transmission was low, but not that low. I would assume it would have been lower had it been migrating? I’ll have to look into one of those kits. Thanks!

I had good luck going to PartSouq and "setting up" the vehicle on their site. I could then use their diagrams to get OEM part numbers. A lot of hard to find OEM parts are available there or Megazip (and with shipping are often about the same as other suppliers). And they have availability estimates on some items if not in stock so you can prioritize purchase to save on shipping. A first great option was looking at all of our awesome MUD vendors like Cruiser Outfitters, City Racer etc. Then Ebay, SOR etc. There are good parts scattered about the internet. It seems I end up in front of the computer more than behind the wheel of the 45.
That will change as I either complete the build or run out of money.
Good luck with your search!

Confirming these belts are Canadian spec. Both mine have them.

I looked under General Countries after Michael's (@Michael B) comment and Australia seems to have had the same belts as Canada.

Picked up a couple hundred feet of Dom so I can start building an in cab and bed roll cage and some sliders for this and my 80. Rogue bender and notcher should hopefully be here soon then the steep learning curve begins.

That’s about 9 hours worth of dripping, pretty significant. I haven’t had a chance to investigate where exactly it’s coming from. I’ve read that pressure can build up and cause it to puke and that the bypass hose can help but I’m not sure what’s going on here yet.

I’d like to get one of those sweet bypass hoses but I’m temped to swap in an h55f 5 speed because I max out at about 45-50mph currently. If the 2F ends up needing significant work or dies I’d be temped to swap in a 4bt. I’ve read that the h55f can handle a 4bt of it’s not a high torque/hp build tune.

If you can only run 45-50mph with a 2F/4-speed something is wrong, and a 5-speed won’t fix that. You should be able to cruise at least 70mph as-is if it’s running correctly.
