Next up was mounting the 315s. They cleared well, with zero rubbing on full U turns. The spare tire on the 2" spacer cleared both the rear bumper and the swing door by mere milimeters. I reckon it wouldnt work if a KM2's were installed, or any mud tire with larger lug patterns. (will post a pic of the clearance later on)

We then took a trip up to Al Shefa mountain near Taif, at about 7,000ft elevation. Here are a few snaps from the trip.

And then last weekend we hit Wadi Rabigh again, and did a few deep water crossings.

Next up is to get the axles breathers extended to the engine bay; we've discovered a new area to wheel with endless side trails connected to it that we can explore with lots of water crossings. It will be a busy winter season:D

Dame 35s suit them nice.
Too bad I am going to deflate mine, I don't like it when tires stick out.

Pure AWESOMENESS!

I hear ya...love the skinnies look, but these 315's are growing on me. If I ran skinnies then I wouldnt have the fenders on. Check out the pic with the 255's at the beginning of the thread. In another part of the world I'd run that set up. Here it wont be effective.

Pure AWESOMENESS!

Muchos gracias amigo:)

Looks great Boozewz! I need to make another trip out west!

Yella...time to pull the trigger on your wagon, and once you do we'll be delighted to show you around. The variety of places we have our here in the west is a bit better than on the east coast. Its nice every once in a while to wheel without having to get the sand out of your ears 3 days after your back from a trip!

A few shots of the spare tire mounted up.

It looks like its touching the rear bumper, but its literally 1mm above it.

Here it looks to be obstructing the left rear door.

But when opened, its close...very close

And finally fully opened, without touching the spare.

yikes that is tight.

As much as I want to move to a 315 I don't like fat tires, they would be bad for my fuel economy on a daily driver. 35s on my hzj75 is a possibility.

nice rig man, i think i saw a video of your truck on you tube ........ love the 76 series LC

Great rig, great story, great view!

Thanx for sharing!

P.S.: I just love the way it looks in the first pic posted, but it's just my personal oppinion! ;)

Tall and skinny has its merits!

Thanks. Is this the vid you're referring to? My mate did it a few years ago; us just messing around at a place 20mins from home.

Thank you sir!

I have a question to ask: I've used the diff locks on several occasions and noticed that when the front is engaged, the steering does not tighten up like one would normally expect. It turns as if its unlocked. I know the diff is locked as both front tires are spinning. I've driven other trucks with front diffs locks and when they're engaged the front is almost nearly impossible to turn.

Is this something I should be worried about?

The only truck I've had with front lockers was my Defender 110 and I never thought the steering was as bad as people said it would be. I could hardly tell the difference in steering effort. Sometimes I might get a bit of plowing but the force to turn was not markedly different.

For what that's worth!

I went for the diesel, 1hz. I'll try it for a few months and if it needs more juice I'll order Graem's turbo kit.

I'll post photos once I get my hands on it :)

Your going to want a turbo:)

Yeah I figure that, just need to save some cash first and rank it on the priority for upgrades: tires, lift, roof rack, second battery, front / rear bumpers, on board air, turbo, awning, window tinting, water tanks, etc..

I'm not sure yet which order ill do all those, it will depend on how it performs and which upgrades are easiest to sell to the wife :)

A quick update on a couple of things done.

I had decided to upgrade to 315/75/16 BFG AT's, up from the current 285's I had. With the lift I have the 315's cleared no problem. The only issue was with the spare tire fitting in its existing location, as it hits the rear bumper and thus is not able to be mounted on the spare tire bracket.

Did you have to special order these or does someone carry them in Jeddah?

Unfortunately they're special orders, from the States. Juffali is the Michelin and BFG dealer here, but does not carry any BFG stock, and wont special order either.

I know the BFG dealer in Kuwait stocks 285's, so that should be easy to get. Anything bigger and he will order for you. I still find buying and shipping from the US to be cheaper than have a local dealer special order.

Hope this helps.
