Events/Trails 200s in Ouray Summer 2016

I'm flexible as well but I don't want to slow down the trail especially if people need to pass or coming from another direction. We'll get it figured out as numbers get finalized. On a selfish note I want to be on @kreiten group so he can take pictures of me!

Wow, this is starting to be work or something, right Cody? Groups of 5 would move fast...maybe 7 if we get 21. We can just steal the trails segmentation description from the FJ Summit page. We have 3 full days.

Note for those going- Having a CB installed (and tuned correctly)(SWR meter tuning) would be very helpful. Leaders and tail gunners should be required to have them. Also, trail lead should have a winch- and possible rear gunner. So there you, go- excuse for more upgrades for those on the fence.

Ineresting- the 100s in the Hills group was wanting us to join them....well, they were going to limit their gig to 35 100s. They had over 100 try and sign up! Glad were were not in that mess, but I could see ours getting bigger. I mean, the FJ Cruiser Summitt has 300.

no more than 20, then you need a trail leader, gunner and mid gunner. 10 is pretty easy

What our club run does is has two trips. One day folks can do black bear, the other day the can do Governors Basin or Pokepsquie gulch. and visa versa the next day

With Family, I did Ophir Pass and Imogine Pass in one day. Kids and Mrs were tired and did not join me on next two days of trail runs.
For group rides, we did black bear Pass and Imogene pass in one day. It was a long day but do-able and stopped for lunch at Telluride.
Next day was Poughkeepsie Gulch for some and few went all the way to Silvertown.

Black bear is a one way trail. Imogene is 2 way

You have to have at least a leader and a gunner. The gunner lets the leader know if there is a problem and to hold up. You also want to ensure you have an experienced leader when you go down the view from Telluride and have to hug the wall and then turn onto the switchbacks. That should decide how many trucks in a group. Folks that haven't done that before could need a spotter. I have been spotted by poor spotters right into a rock on the Rubicon. You have to trust your spotter and keep your eyes on him/her and not the trail

Not sure what kind of radios you guys have, but Ham radios are bar the best. They reach miles and are crystal clear.

Good news for stock vehicles:
Several Ouray veterans have confirmed that as long as you have sliders & AT tires, you should be fine. -But I'm just echoing what's been mentioned, as I've not done Ouray myself.

Mine was stock height last year. Sliders, skid plates and rear bumper were scratched extensively. Only scratched the rear bumper once though.

If I still have my stock bumper...I'm hoping it comes back severely scratched... Bc then I can say, "See dear? We NEEED a heavy bumper!"

But what I'm REALLY hoping to be an "early adopter" of Slee's new rear bumper...

Well played! I can't believe how built your 200 is now!

Stock is fine to come. The only issue that you may not be able to sell your running boards- but this would garantee and upgrade.

Did you have aftermarket skid plates?

I'm thinking about throwing in this year. If you were spending ~$3k in mods to prep, how does this sound?

• 1" mild lift (My Mild 200 Series Lift)
• Sliders
• ARB skid plate
• BFG ko2

Part of my restraint is due to the 200 being DD for the . If I could switch out my Taco (my DD) for a decent 200 I would start off doing the above except with an 2" OME kit.

Part of my restraint is due to the 200 being DD for the . If I could switch out my Taco (my DD) for a decent 200 I would start off doing the above except with an 2" OME kit.

The 200 stock skids are plenty. I would go for the 2 to 2.5 OME or Ironman rather than 1 inch and not do the extra skids.

My wife, mother-in law daughters all climb in and out of my rig with the 2-3" lift. The step sliders make it easy, Tube sliders complicate things. If you are going to do the lift, I would recommend a 2"

The slowest our convoy moved (last year) during the whole trip was moving up the P Gulch. That may have been the most technical portion for the stock crowd. When I say technical I'm saying placement wheels and tires to avoid getting hung up. not black bear technical where you DIE

I have stock skids. On your budget I would go 2" ome nitro or another 2" system, sliders and tires. I got 3" out of my BP-51. That would be a good start. Don't need skid plate the stock ones are fine. If you hit them just throw some por15 on it.

Honestly Black Bear was easy... it was P-Gulch that gave me the most trouble.

Yeah- there was a long small Boulder garden I forgot about when I talked those in to going that were stock. It's ok. We killed it.
