It's always tricky to gauge the term "difficult" because everyone has their own experience and perspective on what constitutes "wheeling" and all its variations.

Perhaps @Canyonero or other Colorado drivers can comment on where a run like Black Bear pass falls on the scale used on the spread sheet sign up in terms of comparative difficulty...so that those who went last year can put the term into perspective. If "difficult" means rock crawling and likely damage...then where would Black Bear fall? Moderate? Easy? Difficult?

I suspect that after day 1, some may wish to swap in or out of various groups. Maybe there can be some wiggle room there...

I'm going to do some youtubing of trails later today, and I suspect that may be the best way to SEE what many of these trails involve. Like many here, they will all be new to me. ;)

I chatted with Greg a bit yesterday on the trails, my guess based on what he said is that a trail like Black Bear would be in the easy rating!?!? I'll let Greg chime in for a better answer, but that's my guess...

Roll with Group 6 on Saturday in the "choose your own adventure"! let me know if ya want me to add ya!

I'll likely be the most novice of the group, but if you don't think you guys will try anything totally insane then add me for Saturday bud!

I'm not familiar with the trails but I'd say you'd probably be fine with a spotter if you're ok with some bumper scrapes and aren't spooked by slider usage.

I'm ok with bumper scrapes (wife scraped the front on a dumpster, and then I subsequently gouged it on a fence when backing my trailer in the alley near me). I'll be spooked by slider use but if they protect the body I'll get over it :-)

I think Saturday is full except for the Trail Lead. If @Canyonero doesn't want to you can slide me in there so linuxgod can be added.
That would be awesome. There were two slots when I looked earlier this morning but writing to google docs is blocked from my work :-(

My feelings about black bear pass. First time it was scary and second time it seems easy.

Ya, I kinda figured that. Frankly Black Bear is simple most of the way, with a couple spots where spotters are helpful to avoid scrapes, etc. Perhaps there are other trails that might serve as a comparison to help people gauge what = " difficult" in this context.

Google docs is blocked from my PC, but evidently not from my phone. Shhhh... don't tell the security team!

I'm in for Saturday. You guys swap me around in the list when you decide who the trail lead is.

Depending on when we get there I might be in for the Friday night run. I put myself on the list, but can someone text me the departure time/location on Friday? We'll be in either very late Thursday night or more likely Friday around noon

I noticed on a couple of the days some folks are slotted in for more than one selection, so can we clarify that we're only supposed to select one per day? There's a group that's currently full I'd like to join if one of the members currently signed up for 2 slots will not be joining both...hope that makes sense.

Also - any chance for one more slot on the choose your adventure run on Saturday? I spent 9 hours in the garage yesterday when the email came out, so I'm a little behind the curve in signing up!

@mcgaskins Have you run wheeler lake? Spring creek? Red elephant hill or bill Moore lake? If so I'd like to know your opinion on their difficulty. I think Bill Moore lake is a good 200 series trail, and not too difficult (although it has gotten extremely washed out.)

Also did you say North twin Cone is closed? If that's the trail that I'm thinking of -starts at the top of Kenosha Pass - it was definitely open just a couple weeks ago. It can be run in a 200 with at least 33" tires and sliders, but there will be scraping for sure.

I've run them all but unfortunately not in the 200 other than Red Cone :/ What I gathered from the thread at Rising Sun is that Twin Cone is definitely closed now, but I haven't seen it firsthand...if true it's a shame because that's a great trail (other than mosquitoes every time I've run it).

Yeah- got the email right as I was boarding a plane for an 10 hr flight so I know what you mean. I'm signed up for some trails - although late to the party- so all good.

I'll bring another Ham radio handheld. Would be good if we had a Ham in each group- but that's asking too much. We would likely be able to communicate with other groups 20 miles away if we can hit a repeater and get help more quickly if emergency if no cell.

20 miles you can typically hit without a repeater in High Power mode.

Yes. I think I meant 200, but depends on so many variables, right? Anyway- we all know much better than FRS 2 ways in a jam.

Thinking about Switching my Friday trails over to Moderate, but I see only the trail leader spot is open. Anyone willing to swap out to trail leader?

If your going to Breck make sure you join the 200LCDC Facebook page. I'll be making more announcements over there.

Also we have quite a few people who haven't signed up for trails yet so please let us know if you didn't receive the sign up email.

If you're still deciding on trails or haven't done so yet please note that although some groups are full, we'll make sure we even groups up by combining if needed so your not riding alone or with one other. As mentioned above a lot of people haven't signed up, so pick your group and others will soon follow. :)

We'll make sure each group is comfortable with trail selections and has a designated trail leader to guide the group.
