i know what greenfox is thinking right now:

"hmmmm, scratch-and-sniff?!"

that is terrible ryuan, you outta be ashamed of yourself!

at the rate we are going working and getting ready we would be right at home in a garage. the biggest deal will be getting my son Will out of school but i told him to tell his teachers he was going on a trip thru time. 8 hrs plus in a 1967 FJ-45 with no radio,no air,3 on the tree, maxed out at 55 mph living on drive thru and gas station bath rooms. I CAN'T WAIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

great!

i've been sending out tons of emails to fellow board members, manufacturers, vendors and shop owners trying to drum up some raffle loot. so far, everybody has been very generous and the donations are starting to trickle in. thanks in advance to all the supporters.

if any of you guys can think of somebody who might be willing to support this event and raffle, please send them an email. anything will be greatly appreciated.

if you're not familiar with the raffle at the "fj45 run", then here's the scoop:
this event is my birthday party. so it's run and set up by myself along with the help of some friends. this is not an event that;s run/set up/organized/governed by any association or club. so the event is free and so is the raffle. i'm not trying to raise moneyt for anything. every participant receives one and only one raffle ticket. all the tickets get put in a hat and then we work our way thr them. once all the number have been gone thru, they all go back in the hat and we start over again until there are no prizes left. that way, everybody goes home with some raffle schwag. last year everybody won at least 3 priozes. some people won 4 or 5 prizes.
everybody who brings a 45 to the event gets a special ticket for the best raffle items. so they get an extra chance to win.

one thing i have contemplated is to charge a nominal "event entry fee" in order to raise some money for either "the blue ribbon coalition" and/or "friends of the rubicon". these guys put a lot of work and effort into making sure that our trails stay open for us all to enjoy. so supporting them is really helping ourselves. i was thinking something along the lines of $10 per person. that's a drop in the bucket compared what we spend on our rigs/gas/parts,..... just to make it to these events. please let me know what you guys think about this.

thanks again!

couple of questions, do we need to bring firewood or are fires allowed, camp stoves? does a donation have to be a landcruiser product ? is there going to be a birthday cake ? do we need to buy any kind of camping permit ? thats it for now got to get to work thanks

there's lots of fiore wood up there, so that should'nt be a problem. we'll have to check with the ranger station about fire restrictions. they might be in effect meaning no open fires. but i won't know that until we get closer to the event. bring a camp stove for sure.

from what i remember, there's no camping permit required at the camp location but i will double check on that as well.

b-day cake. hmm, better try to convince my GF to make some. brownies might travel a little better though.

raffle prizes. anything will do. we've had cases of beer, bottles of wine, hand cleaner, fire extinguishers, shop towels, pocket knives,......as raffle prizes. and they were all appreciated.

That would be closer to 9 if you're caravaning with me!:grinpimp:

Noise-cancelling headphones are a wonderful thing.:D

If you watch 2001: Space Oddysey before you leave, you're much less likely to think of the drive in the 45 as purgatory!

We'll talk.;)

Will there be a bbq? I will bring a keg!

Well, we had a pig roast last year. Not sure if it's gonna be a repeat. I know that the Toyota Trails Team sometimes host a BBQ, and Georg said that they'd be there again this year.
