2000 LX470, 164K miles, second owner, just got it about a month ago, not known tranny issues and rig has been serviced at dealership its all life. Tranny works and shifts perfectly besides the typical clunk.

Grease the heck out of the slip yokes and that clunk will disappear. It takes a lot of grease to get these things to fill up.

2000 LC build date 12/99; 168K miles on original; did a transmission service at 138 when I baselined the truck. Don't know the history before 138 as far as maintenance. No towing

Funny how we went through such a rash last summer and then silent for the last three months.... knock on wood.

2000 uzj100

I have a 2000 that I've owned for 6 monts, driven 5k miles and shipped across the country. No transmission problems to report. Although I'm changing the ATF this weekend so one will probably surface now that i'm trying to be preventative.

Build date 12/99 I have really no service records on it. Just hit 150k and had the dealership do the fluid exchange with Amsoil. Will do drain and refill every 10k miles when I change oil.

I have to watch this and other trans failures.

Mine has no history of towing, and was serviced better in its life prior to me. I must moved to Seattle and need to find a shop that I can have light service stuff done.

2000 LC
155k miles
2nd owner, i have owned for a little over a year, tows our 2500lb(poorly) but it works
No issues shifts as it should

2000 LC w/Feb 2000 build date. 123K miles. I believe trans was flushed at least one time by PO at dealership. PO used for light towing; his HD motorcycle on a trailer. Never off roaded.

I just swapped fluid with Amsoil less than 1k ago. The old fluid was a 5 or 6 on a scale of 1 (best) to 10 (worst) in terms of needing to be changed. It actually shifts better at approx 2000 to 2500 rpms.

No problems as of yet...knock wood ten times.

.

I think we're twins! I have been driving my "new to me" 2000 since end of July. few noises here and there, but keeping the fingers crossed nothing gets worse :)

190k. 2nd owner @ 48k. No trans flushes, no work on trans. Just drive it. No issues. :)

Edit: Sh*t, wrong year, but I just asked my friend about his:

Land Cruiser
"Still runnin' strong."
9-2000
123,000 miles
Used as a heavy tow vehicle by his father for their contracting business.

Was the a semi "confirmed" manuf date for the 2000's that seemed problematic? I read alot...not sure, I might have missed it...I'm looking at a 2000 LX and wanted to know what dates to avoid.

No definitive mfg range, good or bad. Just not enough mfg date data on the failures. Sorry...

Just sold an A343F to a local shop who is replacing one in a customers 2000 UZJ100.

Crapped out with about 190K miles on the ticker.

Just to give you an idea, there are about 13 of these trannies in the states.

There are only 2 A343s for the 80 series in the states and I have them both in my warehouse.

:meh:

So Beno, are you saying that 2000 owners should gobble those trannies up? Way to contribute to the paranoia! (joke).

I havent researched this topic as my Trans feels fine at 150,000, but are there tranny master rebuild kits available for the UZJ100 and if so can anybody give a recommendation?
