Should be 4.11's. Same as the 62 series.

Last I looked it was 4.10 (10 pinion teeth, 41 ring gear teeth), not the same as the fj62. the 62 was 4.11. later robbie

Robbie is correct. The 80's are 4:10's (41 tooth ring and a 10 tooth pinion). 62's are 4.11's (37 tooth ring and a 9 tooth pinion).

Well, hrmpf!

*sulking*

It would in the back maybe, but then you would have a 4.10 in the front and a 4.11 in the rear. But why???????????

I run 4.10' R&P out of the rear of 2 80 series in the front and rear of my fj60.

scary part is one of those sets of gears is from the rear end of Junks 80!!!! ;)

Would a 62 series pinion work in an 80 series axle?

Not talking about using the gears from the 62, just the pinion as a cheap 4.56 option, if possible.

You can use aftermarket 4.56s from a 62 or 40, 55, 60 etc... in the rear. However, for the front you are screwed. Every place I've found that is able to get the 4.56s for the high pinion front are on backorder. It has been several months. If someone knows of a source that has them in stock please speak up. 4.88s are available almost anywhere right now.

what good is the pinion with out the ring gear? ya gotta swap both........right?
