Posting personal emails? Pretty low Wayne.

I disagree.

Such a sweeping rule cannot but meet exceptions and abuse. Deceit in any forum should be exposed as the basis of these forums is trust.

Thank you Crushers.

huh? You lost me with that logic somehow.

That was a private communication not intended to be broadcast. Wayne could have called him on whatever the guy did without posting his private correspondence. Lousy ethics, in my opinion.

What happened?

I am still trying to figure out what the deceit was? Sorry, I am a bit slow.

Was it because he said he owned one? What would he gain by doing this?

I'm not a lover of syntetic fluids .. I prefer god mineral oil and more frequent changes .. Anycase in my diff, tranny and t-case always use Castrol 80-W90 for LSD.

I certainly mean no disrespect here, but MAN OH MAN it blows my mind! Current generation synthetic oils/gear oils are so far advanced and superior to dino that if it werent for cost reasons dino would have gone extinct AGAIN!

I wouldnt use dino in any vehicle of mine if my life depended on it! If you care about your stuff use synthetic. Add in a bypass oil filter and extend your drain intervals to the point that you subtract the cost difference.

I my-as-well explain myself to everyone on this forum where I'm coming from, as everyone seems to know my e-mails back and forth with Wayne now.
I originally posted on this forum that I "have" a HDJ81 so that the members of MUD would take my questions more seriously. If I would have come on the site and jsut posted "I know nothing about anything, and wanna know something...." No one would take me as serious, I don't think.
As for my original e-mail to Wayne, I did not ONCE say I was going to buy a LC forsure from him. I mentioned I was very interested, which I WAS.... I'm forsure going to buy one, and wanted to know some things about it. Everything I said in my e-mails were true. The only "deceit" would be when i said "I have a HDJ81 from Japan." I did not lie once to Wayne. So from just explaining all of this, hopefully you can all see it was all blown out of proportion for no reason.

It's very good of you to make this post. I can (and I suspect many others) understand why you say you had a Cruiser. I also suspect you would have received the same answers from this group even if you said you were looking for a Cruiser. My experience is that most of the people on this site are very supportive. In the final analysis, in my opinion, it's no big deal. I hope you stick around and probably many more do as well.

Good luck with the Cruiser search.

deceit is deceit, if you would have been straight upfront with everyone then there would never have been a problem in the first place.
you are man enough to post this explaination and i will be man enough to remove my posting.
cheers and welcome to the forum.

For the most part information is given freely, with or without a Cruiser. However there are times when the information will step on the toes of those in the business of Land Cruiser's. Remember, however genuine and nice people are, they're in the business to MAKE MONEY. Some do it more ethically than others, but they wouldn't do it if they didn't gain from it.

So sometimes not divulging information or not responding to posts is their way keeping secrets to themselves. Guys not in the business of Land Cruiser's will ALWAYS give you any information that they think will be helpful. Not always correct, but they're all trying to help.

P.S. If you import your cruiser directly from these guys in Japan, you will save muchos dinero.

Hey japan_import, how much do you guys want for the BJ74 that is supposed to land in November-December.
http://www.j-spec.tk
I think I saw you or your dad driving in it the other day and it looks really clean.
Does it have the original paint?
Has the mileage been verified by JEVIC or the like?

Anyway 80-90 is good for the diffs.
If you can afford synthetics in the diffs you will gain some milage. But if you dunk your truck as much as my old FJ then it will be cheaper to run dino-lube.

You know, Japan Import, if you were just a regular Joe like me who wasn't into Land Cruisers to make a living, I would cut you some slack. But for you to go behind the scenes and try to weasel out information from an established JDM LC dealer for your own benefit, and then to come on here and pretend that you're not in the business just picks me the wrong way.

You're just another guy out to make a quick buck...probably have no clue about Land Cruisers in the first place, but you and your dad have heard that there's money to be made in it. So you're surfing the boards and hitting up people for "free" information so that when someone comes to check out one of your rigs you sound like you know what you're talking about.

Well, I can tell you first hand that the Land Cruiser enthusiast community is a small one, and word travels fast when there's some shady things going on, especially when it's involving one of our own. What you have done goes against the very words that are in your website:
My Son and I started this business 3 years ago and we have been importing Japanese vehicles ever since. Over all, the qulity of Japanese used vehicles is much better than North American. Many can be found in great condition with low kilometers and no corrosion.
Our philosophy is very simple - to import high qulity vehicles with low kilometers that sell themselves. We also want to offer excellent customer service built on a reputation of honesty and integrity. As in any market, there is always and element of deception and this market is no different. We determine to inspect all vehicles for defects and problems before purchase and after purchase, while still in Japan.

We want to eliminate any and all potential problem vehicles. we feel by offering this higher level of qulity control we can provide a better product to Canadians. One of our goals is to instill confidence in the Canadian consumer about this relatively new Japanese car market and the best way to do that is to consistently provide a superior product. We have also adopted a practice of having all odometer readings verified as true by a company that specializes in this service. And we will provide an authenticity certificate with our vehicles at customer request. We are commited to doing all we can to gurantee a qulity vehicle. we can work with most any budget so contact us. We love and drive these vehicles ourselves and we hope you will love doing business with us.

Marty and Maxx - J-Spec Imports Canada

So I figure Maxx "E." must stand for Ebenal, and Marty Ebenal must be your dad...or vice versa. None the less, you were not forthcoming that you are a new dealer when you started this thread. You explanation about your dealings with Wayne didn't mention that you are a dealer trying to get information about products in an underhanded way from another dealer who's done his research and is in the same market as you. Why is it underhanded? Because you implied that you were going to buy a vehicle from Wayne, and you being a dealer of course had no such intentions in the first place.

Now I might get some flack from saying what I've said...but your poor form has left a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm saddened that there are people that come on to this board with purely selfish and deceitful intentions. Oh yeah, and proofreading your website for spelling and grammatical errors also helps in making you look more legit. :flipoff2:

I had no idea the guy was scooping information while in the same business as Wayne. It seemed to me he was an ordinary guy needing answers. I still don't think Wayne should have posted the email but I take back any support I offered for the Maxx guy.

That's just plain underhanded and unnecessary. The information he was looking for is available to those in the business with contacts.

I've only been around a short time and I fully realize the Cruiser community is small. Not a good business move on Maxx's part.

Absolute gold!!

I can't believe that I didn't figure it out sooner. I have seen some of the units they have brought in...

I have a feeling their importing of Land Cruisers might come to a premature end.

Good job Wayne, problem with this kind of thing happening is that the wrong guy gets tarred with the big black brush and made to look uncharitable which I think people on the forum would know is unjustifiable in your case. In the end someone has to play the decent guy and as usual it's mainly the guy who has been wronged. But heh, it isn't a nice world we live.

All power to you M8.

Kind of silly that all this came about as the information elicited wasn't a diificult thing to find. Even without posting, I'm pretty sure a search would reveal such simple information. Boards such as this are so open and giving.

Hawke,

Trust me as being uncomfortable when I advise you that gang ethics don't work well for anybody except the head gangster. If you write something out, expect it to be published at the most inconvenient time. If you want to keep a secret, don't share it.

How about sending me your email before you open it?

Publically sharing private communication is not gang ethics. It's simply lousy ethics.
