looks great!

regarding the drilling the manifold: there are some threads about that. I've done it on-truck, twice, no problems. running at idle while you drill will blow the flecks out, but
1) wear glasses
2) work quickly, that manifold heads towards 300 degrees

Find out how many rpm the blades are spinning at idle, and then tell me its a good idea to add filings to the stream.

Thank you for posting that!
This is the first firing after the complete rebuild. Obviously we left the intercooler off. But the engine with the G-turbo sounds amazing…

And the 'engine rig' is a mine-truck 75 series frame on wheels, with a BJ70 radiator :p
It works perfectly for all 1Hx engines…

I'll update the thread with lots of pics of the finished truck this weekend.

cheers,
jan

Holy sweet baby jesus! Epic.

Hearing Toyota diesels makes me so happy.

I second that Onur!

Jan, thanks for the heads up on Omega. I made it down there last week and picked up the plate and o ring. Brian and I spoke for about a half hour about different diesel related items before I had to rush back home to pick up the eldest from school. At the end of it I told him I had found my IP and injector shop thanks to Jan.

Thanks Nathan! Brian is a great guy, with lots and lots of diesel knowledge...

nice sound ....

in a related note, never been fan of rev up a cold diesel engine ..

If that's first fire up, revving can help give the rings an initial seat... as long as it's not revved excessively, which doesn't sound to be the case here.

At least that's been the case when I was build High HP gas engines:)

I can absolutely guarantee that I will not risk blowing metal shavings through a new $2000 turbo.
cheers,
jan

Very very NICE;)

For diesels it's load and boost that seats rings. Unloaded revving is the worst thing.
After a rebuild I just idle it for long enough to know that nothing is dripping/leaking. Then I get in and drive it.

If it's a brand new turbo, then you have zero excuses for not removing it. If it's an old turbo held on with rusty studs then it gets tricky.

Jan, you still around?
