I've never been to rock therapy but I've heard good things. October is my girlfriends birthday month and we go visit her family in Ohio for a week or so, pretty much sucks up my time off.

Will be at cruise moab though.

I must be confusing you than with another cruiser guy who's build is near the same as yours! But i've met a lot of people from Colorado now......

I got parts coming in heavy now!! I should have some progress pictures over the weekend/ next week

I cleaned up the new cam and installed it today, Oil pan reinstalled to see if it will work, it's not an fbody pan, its an 07 truck pan....... I have the fbody pan in the garage if it feel it's too close

so with switching to a p-pump and raising the brackets, I realized Im going to need to change my belt routing to a hyrbid of the LS1(f-body) and truck accessories

this means spacing my water pump out 3/4 of an inch, luckily dirty dingo sells a pre machined spacer for albeit a little steep, but they've done the leg work, 50 USD plus another 20 bucks to get it here...... (canada eh)

I am still waiting on my brackets from Goatbilt, I ordered a underdrive pulley for my power steering pump which is holding up the order.... and I'd really like to start test fitting everything

With the PSC powersteering pump, I believe I'll have the frame clearance, but I guess only time with tell

So i stripped the old harness down of its armor sheathing yesterday and prepped it for depinning/removal of unnecessary wiring

I did some major homework to make some educated guesses to what I needed to remove. Essentially anything to do with the Toyota/Lexus Engine management and transmission control was axed. Ive left the fuel pump relay wiring in place for now, but Ill more than likely be removing this as well

And than I was left with this

some of the excel sheet pinouts I've been building as I go, not 100% complete/accurate but as I get more time Ill actually update them

Looks about right on the toyota harness. Did you still need EWD? I can't find my external hard drive, but I'll dig it out tonight if you still need it.

I managed to find an old copy on my hard drive

Motor went and in out :D

I need a build a couple fish plates and than bobs your uncle :D

First fire in a couple weeks

with the thermostat outlet pointing in a way I was overall pleased with I ordered a straight neck outlet from Jeg's

Up next is making my fishplates and gussets

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO it came up over discussion as we forgot to have my VSS tone ring installed on the 4L80E on the transmission....... s***!!!! However we think a solution is at hand

Ditch the factory gauges - Im running a melling high volume./pressure oil pump so good chance the oil gauge will be garbage, and I gauge pillar mounts
Run a Dakota Digital signal interface and Up the pulses required, this will be some test and play as I got a strong feeling the Toyota doesnt do 82000-128000 pulses per mile more like 4000, the GM tone ring is 40 pulses per shaft rotation

Reasoning behind this, I want the ability to run my transmission in 4lo in (D) without the transmission going nuts, I have crawler gears so @ 3 times lower speed than the actual speed will mess with the VSS output being in front of the T-case

Now this adds probably another 1500 into the bucket..... I really wish someone made an adapter like this for us

I've somewhat looked at adding the VSS to the 4L80E, and it does not seem to be that big a job to add it. Sure, you have to go in the transmission, but from friends who have done transmission work, as long as you are not rebuilding it, taking it apart and putting it back together is not that big a deal.

again not a huge issue... and honestly might go that route yet, HOWEVER, as I stated above, my vehicle will see 4LOW A LOT, and dont get me wrong running manual mode is an option but its taxxing on the transmission heat wise and when in moab, its easier to keep it drive until low gears are required

What are the ill effects of running a VSS with it being at a different speed in this case 3.1 times faster than the actual vehicle speed?? What will my transmission do in Drive??? Will it shift all over the place or will it be strictly based off RPM???

The GM computer won't ever know you have it in low, basically. At least that's the case when most of these swaps are set up.

It has its own tone ring before the transfer case in the powertrain "flow" from engine to wheel, and doesn't need to know what the actual wheel speed is.. you just set up the toyota VSS to run your gauge/CC(if using DBC)/locker computers. Generally that signal doesn't go to the GM PCM.

Now if it HAS to have an actual wheel speed input for some reason a SGI-5 should do the job.. then maybe program the PCM/TCM for 4x4 truck? There will probably be a PCM pin you'll need to energize when in 4Lo (toyota has this, should be easy). Their reduction wouldn't be 3:1 but I doubt it makes that big of a difference, and even then I'm not sure what else you'll do to rectify the situation.

That's what I'd be doing is running the Dakota signal interface

I'll be weighing my options to whether I want to ditch my gauges (leaning this way) and just use the Toyota VSS for the pcm as well
