Has anyone done this on a 97 or any LC with a 4.5? Also, has anyone thought of completely removing the smog pump and using it's space and available belt to turn a York air compressor, and building an onboard air system?? Just thought y use an expensive electric one when I can take a page from some of the jeep guys and salvage a York from a junco yard for $10 and custom do my own onboard air??? Anyone have any thoughts on that idea, or wanna try it?? Let me know I haven't done it yet!! I have a 97 LC 4.5 and plan on doing a total de-smog and remove all the related crap! Alabama doesn't test, anyone have any advice on this model??

Search EGR disable/removal. That's the first of alot of things you can do to make the engine a non-US 1FZ-FE.

All that you mention has been done any-which-way but loose.

PM me for some local cruiser details btw

All these have been done and more

I looped my lines like in post #24 and it smells pretty rich. I have not bypassed the pump yet I don't know if that will help. So far it does feel slightly better on the highway but that my be wishful thinking

Does Post #24 really work. I live in a country where we have no BB guns or BB pellets and would really like to enjoy a piece of the EGR disable pie

If you live in a country with no BB guns it most likely means you have a diesel cruiser available for purchase. Get rid of the 3fe and get an hdt.

Or... Use a ball bearing instead of a bb.

You're absolutely right about the higher usage of diesel 80s here but im really a big fan of the 3fe and its reliability

Anyways I tried post #24 looping method and it seems to work quite well. Just did my first drive and it feels smoother and has alot more pep.

Hopefully nothing should go wrong but if it does...ball bearings it shall be!

any line your putting a bb in your just blocking off we do it here in the usa for looks to hide it from emissions inspectors. if you don't have to worry about that you can just remove them and plug them off

I have just about everything I need to do a complete EGR delete this weekend- hopefully the last detail (EGR block plate) will arrive by mail at least by Saturday and it will be game on this weekend. :D

I'm going to desmog with my rebuild

Holy s***take mushrooms! She is alive! And with a lot more pep in her step!

Ih8mud parts classifieds FJ62INTX. Well made piece of metal. Fit right up with no problem. He has more.

TTT! Six BB's and two loops later, I'm in! Straight to the gas station, filled it up to monitor whether this makes an improvement over my ~9MPG or not (fingers crossed). Quick 2-mile jaunt on the freeway and runs FINE.

I drank the kool-aid; we shall see...

Completed this mod yesterday, my Land Cruiser has 274K on it, it is running 100% smoother, is much more willing to rev, and it now feels like it actually has a livable amount of power. no CEL's yet.

Also, I had a real annoying high pitch squealing at 3K RPM<, turns out, it was the air pump.. which is no bypassed.... WINNING!

My trucks been stumbling since I picked it up - OEM tune up , fuel filter and its still there - thinking this is this weekend project - plus the metal piece that plugs into the rubber hose off the air pump disintegrated at some point - lol .
