Almost a bad day.
Yesterday I noticed a leak under the engine of the cruiser. I usually have no leaks, (aside from my recent h55F that puts a drop or 2 down)

I saw drips all under the side and under the filter basically. Not real happy about that. I decided to drive how, watched the oil then parked it. Came out this morning and a little bigger pool like 2" across. What the heck. Started it up and pulled over to the shop and looked and this hose was spraying oil out...o_O:mad:

Good thing I didn't just hop in and drive to work. Thats the Oil supply line for the vacuum pump off of the alternator on the 13BT. Or a quick way to empty the oil from your engine. Yep, these are 30+ year old truck problems.

A local shop is making one, hopefully they finish it today, otherwise it's Monday. Some places online show they can get the part, but I'm not really sure if thats true or not. I'll keep looking.

Good thing you caught that in time! Just goes to prove how important it is to really know your rig and all its little quirks.

I took a Dremel tool with cutoff wheel and slit the metal crimp sleeves to get the banjo ends loose. I then got some hose that fit and doubled up on clamps for the banjos.

That’s a good idea. I should have done that but I don’t have the hose anymore. Hopefully they get it done right Monday.

Yeah, that would have been a very bad deal. I'm pretty in tune with my rig, maybe too much sometimes. Wait, where that new rattle coming from???
That describes me to a T. This past week I got myself all worked up thinking I may have blown a head gasket, on closer inspection it would appear to be a combination of a leaky radiator hose connection coupled with a yet undiagnosed cold start issue, possibly glow plugs.

I tried 2 different places that claimed to rebuild or custom make hydraulic hoses but they said they did not have the right crimps or bands or whatever the hell they are.

What is the length from fitting hole to hole?

We are out of stock on the 02072 (supply limited) but we have some hoses from other Toyota diesel applications that likely have the same fittings albeit different length. For example I know we have the 02070 2H variant in stock.

Thanks, it’s around 13-14” somewhere in there. I don’t have the hose as it’s at the hose shop, but would prefer an oem hose.

Sweet, I'll check Monday. I suspect we'll have something very close.

I called 5 places and only 1 could do it, and they are reusing the ends.

I appreciate that. Definitely would rather have an OEM hose.

Jinkees! I bet there is a replacement interval on that line...

The closest hose we stock is 11" from center of hole to center of hole (12" OAL"). Holding it up to your pic and scaling the fittings, it actually seems very close to yours.

Got the hose put on last night, fit great, no leaks so far.

Now I need to go wash it to get all the excess oil off of the engine and underneath that splattered.

I decided to try a Baldwin B253 filter rather than the smaller Toyota one. This filter gets great reviews, used on Ferrari, Porsche, Ford 460s all to great reviews. If it filters and works and doesn’t fail, I’m good with it.

Barn cat approves although wasn't much help.

....

I like the filters that are locally available that I don't have to pay high shipping to get...
