Go for it! Which mods are you planning on? I can tell you that the under-hood lights and tailgate lights are my personal favorites.

I like your lights and will likely use that idea. Placement of your 'choke' and hand throttle along with the battery isolator and finally the grab handles..

Atm I'm just trolling through the build threads and looking at ideas.. I recently picked up an 85 fj60 that's seen better days and needs a full tear down. (Body off resto) which should be in full swing come the end of November.. It'll be a bit different than your build, with a galvernized frame etc.. and going with the 4bd1t-nv4500-toytrfcase.. I'll start a build thread when I get started...

But yes, I really enjoyed the thoroughness of your build and the mods!! So thanks again

Did an oil change.

Took the chance to drop the pan, check it for holes, and put in a new gasket. I just used Dirko as the gasket. So far so good.
Also changed to NAPA filters because the toyota ones are tough to get and my order didnt come in time.

All was well inside the engine as far as i could tell. Minimal material and metal shavings in the oil sump.

NAPA filters are good stuff.. never had an issue with them in the years I have had BeBe. Dropping the oilpan on her is on the agenda for next year when I don't mind having her down for more than a day (as the 2F pan is usually concreted on there).

Did a mod to the console cubby to display voltage of my front and rear batteries. It also has two marine USB chargers.

Not quite sure how Im going wire the system through ignition yet.... I dont want the voltage indicators to be on all the time, so I need to figure out a way to relay them off of the ignition. If anyone has any pro tips for that, let me know! I would really appreciate it.

Is there any other options to that configuration Will? Cool mod.

Did you bother to check your main bearings while you had the pan out? Just curious, I need to reseal my pan too.

yes! i used a universal mounting block so in theory I could mount any combination of volt meters, usb chargers, or cigarette lighter style electical port. And technically I could have a 24volt socket run from my dual batteries if I wanted.
I also wired in a relay system so I can toggle between engine bay batteries, or solar only.

Fully installed

just read through your build... very nice 60! love the 12HT, just finished putting mine in my 45.

the more 60 builds i read the more i want one... also, nice to have younger members here on mud. i started on my first 45 when i was 17, but have been surrounded with all series LC's my entire life.

keep it up, love that red ;)

I enjoy building the modification 10x more than actually using it or showing people that I have it. Its the journey not the destination in my book :D
Wise young grasshopper.... Loving the thread. Benn binge reading it all. I am about to perform very similar swap. I have to rebuild my 12HT first. Impressive mechanical ability for your age bro.

Did another wiring/lighting project today.

I put two 6 inch led strips under the hood with a switch in the engine bay so I can see what Im doing when I tinker in the evenings or when I have a problem at night.

Its a pretty straightforward setup, but gosh is it a great mod for 15$.

So what did the Bee do to you? murdered and put on display. LOL

WOW. It has been a WHILE. Im about to finish up my final exams this Week, and then Im home for spring break. Got a lot of big updates for you guys.
Spring break projects include:
-Solar system overhaul
-Hot water system install
-New LED headlight install

Oh. And I got a roofrack finally.

Wrenching week has BEGUN!

Ok so we got a lot done today. I figured out how I want to run the hot water system, and started installing fittings and lines and drilled a LOT of holes in my bumper. Basically the system has two settings: Re-circulate, and Dump. Just two ball valves control it all, and I should be able to get the water as hot as I want it depending on how long I let the tank circulate.
No real photographic progress yet, more setup and parts acquisition today.

Basically there is going to be two valves on the bumper, then a simple "garden hose" type spigot, and then a Quick-Disconnect fitting for a shower head or hose for kitchen use etc.

Got my hands on some FREE old US Army fuel cans. One of them came with a pretty sweet filler hose made out of PVC. All the cans are in great shape and should come in handy on my trip up to British Columbia this summer.

BOOM. LED headlights are IN! Got the trucklight 7" replacement headlights. Definately a more expensive option but Im excited to see how they turn out. So far they seem pretty bright but They have some kinda strange patterns in the beams. Its almost like there is a flat plane and a nice spread of light, then a star shape in the center. The effect isnt noticeable on the open road, but if you point them at a wall or trees or something its pretty pronounced.

They bolted up SO easily. The install was such a breeze I think I did it in 15 minutes. They plug right into the factory harness and the highbeams and lights work with all the factory stuff. 100% plug and play. Pics to follow.
