I know what you mean with the OEM creeping to fully custom. I wanted all OEM on my 45 when I started, though with the diesel swap. Now I have sliders, bumpers, Supra seats, roll cage and a toybox.....:bang:

I tell myself the next one will be an OEM BJ42, but I doubt it

LOL, i believe it all started when I felt faint watching my buddy holesaw a 3.5" hole in side of my truck to install the snorkel I bought from you....but I love it but just could'nt do it myself, lol. Now its all a thing in the past

pics of exhaust stack. for the lower bracket it was the tube tire carrier bracket cut in half and then reversed/ flipped to other side. I am able to detach just inside quarter panel and then also undo v clamp with flex and then reinstall my regular lower short exhaust pipe end if I want.

just have to go to weld shop for them to make me a SS perforated heat shield for it. I kept vent window open on drive back from exhaust shop and no issues of fumes coming in from air flow turbulance around vehicle

The USS Roberto - Diesel powered sub?

I think you made a few guys nervous when you announced the stack idea but I think it came out pretty nice. I would keep the heat shield fairly tight to keep the look from getting gaudy, but that's just me.

The truck is looking awesome.

I love the black hood panels. I'm going to do my 70 series hood black next year with some kind of bedliner, maybe linex...

Also loving the stack... I am toyin with the idea myself... Is it pretty loud?

Thanks Aric. stack is quieter than when I had it at bottom? as far as the hood blackouts they are vinyl that I bought from the link provided, very easy to install and very durable, one of the best mods I have done IMO. was about $60, we used windex or window tint spray on both sides of vinyl and hood, laid it down where we wanted it and then started squigee out bubbles, was quick and wont budge, i mean it is great product.

moved the early bib lights inside my MAF 4+ vertical uprights for I am thinking of shortening the bumper and felt they look better inside the width of the headlights versus wider than the width of headlights as I originally had them and are a little more protected this way as well. My weld shop is going to weld a heavy duty flat expanded metal across the vertical uprights from top of bumper to top of verticals, so just above where shackle mounts are. I have the clear bib light glass as well but wasnt sure if that would look better than orange?

stack is great, I love it, no issues with fumes or heat yet I am still gonna make a SS heat shield for it. Tires are nice But I gotta tell you I think I am going back to my split rims for I love the look of classic and these 12.5" wide tires sling me all over the road as everyone states wide tires do. I am going to try 255/85-16's next. The rims dont really do it for me neither. On a great note my 12V exhaust brake solenoid retarder finally came in today.

installed redline racing stainless steel hood lift gas springs today. Wish they were about 6-12" longer in length though. lifts nicely, easy to close.

Did you ever try to plumb in that 13BT crossover pipe from the turbo to the venturi? I remember you had pictures of it in your build-up a while back; I see you are using a regular steel pipe. I thought it would be pretty slick if you could get it to work.

not yet, I still have to go back to exhuast shop for them to mandrel bend all my pipes to turbo and I may have them use that piece. the intake side of that piece is smaller than the outlet so I need to measure turbo outlet and intake of the venturi.

done some work on the cruiser recently. added some steel crossbars and heavy guage expanded metal to the winch protector in between the vertical crossbars. Will be adding a snap on black sunbrella or canvas cover over top of it as well. finally figured out how to make these early bib lights into turn signal/ running lights by changing out the internals to a dual filament socket. took MAF 4+ rear bumper off and reinstalled bumperettes and reciever hitch with 4" drop reciever and stainless convert-a-ball kit. going to take all my split rims, front bumper, rear bumperettes to galvanizing for this up north climate is taking a toll on my rig after only one season.

Roberto hey, first off, nice car. im interested to see it with the splits and meaty tyres.

whats the steel grill for? regardless it looks great. ive been reading about the exhaust brake, but i dont understand what the retarder does, in fact im a bit grey on vacuums in general. i was thinking, would it be an idea to just open and close the brake with a small linear actuator... on an exhaust heat might be an issue but you could mount it back a bit. might be a dumb idea lol, feel free to inform if it is

regards,
redd .

Redd,

I have not had a chance to mount the rims/ tires on truck yet but hopefully soon. The grill is basically just a Winch protector for my Warn 8274 winch that I have off of it right now while I am doing mods to the vehicle and will be taking bumper off to have galvanized. The retarder is the exhaust brake and with a switch it basically opens and closes the flap inline with the the exhaust pipe so it occludes the exhaust flow out when switch is pressed and when not switched is fully open.

thanks
Rob

here are the 255/85-16's on my splits on my CDN M101 camping trailer as of now. The size is perfect IMO but not many choices of tire brands
