1979 side window defrost and passenger foot well routing??? (30 Viewers)

I have two questions and they relate to the side window defrost vents and fresh pull cable routing for a 1979.

1. My dash had bolts above the side window vents. Talking to a fellow member (who has a sibling 40 separated only by april/may build dates) led me to think I was missing the cool looking hand tighten knobs that attach the dash to the windshield. Now however I'm not so sure. This sibling 1979 does not have these side vents...but does have factory A/C. So my guess is that when factory A/C was installed...the side vents were not added at the factory.... Very curious.

Now the first question is.. Does the side vent use these round knobs above the vent? When I installed the knobs
it seems to jam up against the vent and press it forward....making me think that really the bolts I originally had were factory. Here are pics of mine with this knob installed .... as well as the knob without the factory vents.

2. The second question relates to how the routing of the fresh pull cable works on the 1979. There are two clips on the 1979 big tube that lead me to believe it was routed differently than earlier or later models. If someone has a 1979 that can post a pic of this area it would be helpful. Here's what I think it should be routed like given the parts I have. Unfortunately the hoop and the angle stay were pieces I did not label or take pictures of when I took these off. So bottom line ... is this routing and fitment correct? I absolutely know its not matching the routing on some earlier models.

P/N 90119-08121 used in place of the knobs. Yours bolts are probably original. Note, this microfiche information is dated Jan '81, so p/n's may have been superceded since.

My 79 had the defrost vents and no handles on the windshield bolts. Pretty sure an 82 I had was the same. The routing for my fresh pull cable is below the duct not over the top of it. My duct is out right now so hard to take a pic. Mine is not an ac version of the duct though.

I found a post from April 2025 on dash bolt topic where I was corrected by @OGBeno on the bolt part number. He replied the p/n was 90119-08293 and apparently NLA.

You old microfiche is getting the last place some part numbers can still be found. The 8/80-9/83 still shows the bolt with a number. It's in a box with an arrow pointing to the knob. Doesn't give an explanation why it is used. Digital online Toyota randomly is deleted items. It doesn't show the bolt for use with side defrost at all in the 1/79-7/80 diagram. Noticed other online diagrams deleting parts.

Yes @MOTOV8R . This routing seems better. The cable is far less constricted. I took a slightly lower photo
to also show that big tube lower angle bracket and defroster hose hoop mount. I think this looks and feels
correct.

It seems pretty clear to me that this area would change significantly with the factory A/C and be more constricted
on available space. Hence deleting the side window defrost hose and vents now seems like a logical choice that
would have been made for factory a/c.

Agreed @Living in the Past ... I see no explanations on the parts diagram site I use as well.
