When did this happen crazy how time flies. My youngest daughter has taken over my cruiser. I’m glad to have the opportunity to share one of my passions with my youngest daughter,

Haha I wish I sold all my spare parts and chassis. I don’t think I could afford it I think I’m only into this one. For about 17’ or 18 thousand Canadian. Max. Oh for the good old days. Pick these old cruisers up for $500-1000. Bucks. lol. If I only knew I would have bought a few more of them. Haha.

This is my daughter, aged 6 on one of our early camping adventures in Ruftoys. I bought the 40 the same month she was born. She will be 40 this year. Wow

No doubt. I paid my dad $750 for my Cruiser a few years after he declined several offers for $500. It was a complete, running and driving Cruiser with typical rust and a bad synchronizer in the transmission.

At the time I was about to spend $2,000 on another Land Cruiser that was one year newer, and had factory air-conditioning and power steering. My dad thought that was way too expensive. He has recently told me that he had the opportunity in the mid-90s to buy 4 FJ40s that have been stored in containers for 20 years for around $10,000 total for all 4!

I didn’t see these pictures. Check out those retro soft top doors with the windows in the lower section! I just might have to do this to my soft doors.

For the young dads reading this, pay attention!

When my daughter was 4 and my son 2, we took them to Anza Borrego desert for the first time. I pulled the little camping trailer I have listed in the classifieds behind Ruftoys.

While my wife held down camp with our son, I took my daughter out for a slow-speed cruise across the desert with her sitting on my lap. She helped hold the steering wheel

I casually reached over and tipped the rear view mirror until I could see her face. Then I just as casually let go of the steering wheel, watched and waited. When she realized that SHE was driving the cruiser, her eyes got as big as saucers! An absolutely priceless moment every dad should have.

I remember doing that with my dad when his cruiser was a few years old. That Cruiser is now mine.
