There is no room for further discussion on the color. My wife has spoken and she likes it.
Not spring green, so there must of been some discussion. The blue looks nice though.

You are correct-at the 11th hour I showed the wife the available colors for 1965 and she preferred Horizon Blue. Always one of my favorite colors as well. Back in the day when there were still a fair amount of FJ40s on the road it seemed like Horizon Blue was one of the more popular colors, but now you rarely see vintage Land Cruisers on the road so it doesn’t seem so common.

Getting closer, right now fighting to get the hood to line up:

And we are still fighting the hood: it is a good 1/2” from sitting squarely on top of the grill and side bibs-does anyone with body experience have suggestions on how to adjust it? I have loosened the hinge bolts and tweaked it as much as possible. The only other thing I can think of is to loosen the bolts on the side bibs and grill to see if I can move them a little.

And sometimes body mounts need to come into play.

Thanks, didn’t think I would need to go that deep, but something is off, and all of the panels/hood are original to the truck.

Interesting conversation with SOR today before ordering the windshield gasket: The salesperson informed me that 1965 fj40s did not have the vent below the windshield…. Didn’t sound correct to me, will double check…

Incorrrect. My '65 40 does (it's an early - April I think - '65).

I just re-looked up my VIN # (35300), mine is clearly a mid 1965 manufacturer date. Come to think of it I’ve never seen a 1965 with the newer, non-vent windshield. Don’t know if such a vehicle exists.
What took me off guard is that both their salesperson and their website have this misinformation.

@daner ,

@tahoe40/45 is correct: I checked my sources: production assembly-line factory installation of windshield frame part no. 56301-60010 ended with FJ40-36222 being the final one on or about July 7, 1965. *

As you know, your truck, serial number: FJ40-35300 was produced during the month of May 1965, over a month BEFORE the switchover.

*(This dating data is based on frame numbers, and not on first dates of sale, registration in any country, or attached silver or brass round tags.

Information on how many additional windshield frames, if any, were set aside at the factory plant, shipped to export assembly plants, and/or put into worldwide parts inventory at that time-- is unavailable at the moment.

And all of this presumes no one later removed/replaced the original part.)

BTW, there are other changeover dates for this part throughout the entire production run with revisions, supersessions, additions of ISO vs JIS fasteners, different wiper systems and components, tropical, and split windshield variations--all with different individual part numbers--not too surprising considering over a 60 year production span !

HTH

Couple of steps closer. I have an appointment at the local glass shop one week from Monday to install new windshield.

Needs to be roadworthy at that point. Still need to buy rear brake lights/turn signals. They appear to be NLA for 1965. Hesitant to put later model assemblies on them, but need to be on the road asap as this is my daily driver in the summer-can’t wait!

Mark @65swb45 had/has some appropriate rear taillights for a ‘65 with the cones and brackets for a good price iirc.

Thanks. One set of lights and brackets (no cones) @daner $120 to your door via USPS. Add $4 for standard PP transaction.

Somebody has posted repop’d cones recently.

Thanks for responding-I had to search for “cones” to figure out what they were. If I understand it correctly they protect the backside of the unit, but are not needed to install the unit?
Will pm you for shipping/payment details.
Thanks again, Duane

My PP addy is my MUD username at EarthLinkdotnet. If you make a standard payment, your address will automatically be included. My PM box is locked, for good reason.

Thanks again, 65swb45. I sent the $ via PP, hopefully I navigated the process correctly. If you could let me know if you haven’t received the payment, I’d appreciate it.
Duane
