Well, another night, few hours on the lv. Didn't get hung up to much with the BJ project, Travis has mastered painting rather well for being so new to it :) by the time I got home after work this evening he was finishing up his axles and other misc. parts this evening.

I then allowed Travis the privelage of helping me sand down the firewall with 180 :D Took our time and got it pretty decent. I back taped the SEM stuff and sprayed a couple coats of epoxy primer on the top. I have to work tomorrow night, so I think in the morning I'm going to see if I can get some base/clear on the firewall.

Hoping to get it back on the chassis Saturday night.

Matt

I have to tell you I felt pretty lucky to be allowed to help. I can tell you first hand that it looks better in person.....

My God Matt,

What a triumph you must be feeling finally getting color on the body. A huge mile-stone sir.

Congratulations!

when you say "should be putting the body back on saturday night" does that mean it will be fully painted?!?

Body back on, but no more paint for a few more weeks. And then that will be only the inside and into the jams. Probably be a few more months before fully painted :)

I have had a few hours invested in looking at all your work on this old Land Cruiser. Very Clean Honest Restoration!

I want to know if you have any detailed pics of the decals and shift plate that are correct for this Land Cruiser. I only restore the 79-83 models and have most decals for these.

If you go to the back pages through the non LC stuff you will find what I have. I would like to reproduce what you need and donate it to your restoration. It deserves to have the little items. Email me any pics you have and I will go to work.

Best, Shane

It definitely needs that shift pattern badge for the glove-box door. But since his trans/dif setup is custom, it will be a one-of a kind item.

Great to see some paint going on the rig too!

how do you make the shift plates ?

Guys, please don't start hi-jacking this thread. If you want to discuss how he makes stuff and what he makes then take it to the vendor area.

Amen.

Ok, sorry about the wait guys. I know I said probably Saturday the body was going back on, but unfortunetly I had some work related stuff that came up quickly and required my attention all weekend long.

In any event, the body is now back on and I don't think I will be ever taking it back off ;)

Got my buddy Travis and his brother to take a break from the BJ project and give me a hand. Went pretty good, took a couple hours and a bit of massaging towards the front of the vehicle, but the lv is bolted down now. Everything fits pretty nice, still need a little tweaking here or there, but for the most part right on the money.

I don't know how much I will get done the rest of this week since Travis is only here for a few more days before he heads back to GA with his project. Might help him the next couple evenings if he needs help, just so he's on target to leave on Friday.

I'll proably start sanding out the inside this weekend. I have a lot of sanding to do over the next week to get the inside of the body ready to go for paint. But, I'm thinking after a week or 2 it should be white on the inside ;p

Hi Shane,

Sorry for the late reply, just haven't had the time the last couple days to check in.

Man, thanks for the offer, very generous of you. I'm sure I'll be taking you up on this offer :) I do especially like the new glove box shift pattern plate with the auto pattern on it ;p

Give me a little time before I hit you up on some product. Probably going to get a little further along before I seriously start looking at that stuff, but now I know the offer stands and some of the stuff you have.

If you think of any cool stuff that should be on there, let me know. I've got a lot of stuff rolling through my head and sometimes I seem to forget a few of the little things :D

Thanks again, Matt
