Today I got the truck from Dustin and dove into the superb TSM rear disc brake upgrade. This is the best rear disc kit ever. Everything is included. Brackets. Bolts. Coated loaded calipers and stainless lines.

Easy button and high quality.

I’ll take care of this red axle when I add the suspension........

Dropped off the @Racer65 wheels at 49 Tire with @wct49 then went shopping for goodies to build the front axle.

Got back and loaded the 255/85-16 Yokohama’s in for the ride home.

Why paint the axle? The brackets match perfect! 🤣

Dustin did a fantastic job with the engine bay on this truck. Looks like new under here

Tires are on now. I’ll get some before/after measurements to see what the lift gives us off the same tire size.

I think the Dobinsons kit is a week or so out unfortunately. I’m looking forward to trying something different on this 45 versus OME.

Last move of the day was to install the 70 series spare tire carrier. I mounted mine in the middle and it’s always blocking my view when backing up so I mounted this one like Mr T designed, on the drivers side.

M8 Rivnuts for the win

I’ve had the knuckles soaking in buckets of Zepp purple for a couple days and took it to the tractor pressure washer for final blast

From there it goes into the high tech paint booth for a good coat or 3 of rattle

The “yes please I’ll take it all” boxes came in from @cruiseroutfit yesterday so I started in on the axle after an early lunch

Since this is a mini truck knuckle going on an 1970 or so axle I had to grind out the bells to fit the larger Birfields. Added a Mar-tack to each inner and built away today while re-listening to some Tom Clancy

Got here when I realized I did not order new bearings or wheel studs so I flipped the cart around and built the short side out

Finished up and all is good. Ordered more parts and we should have a full roller by the weekend

Parts that I forgot to order made it in from @cruiseroutfit

I love putting these things together with brand new rotors, loaded calipers, Aisin hubs and hardware.

It seems like they send me a different color every time I order new hubs. I’d be interested to know what the difference is Kurt

The color :D

For the common 4x/5x/6x/7x disc brake axle with AISIN hubs, we have red, orange, black, silver, several golds, etc.

Did you not want the orange? That is what I see on the order so it shipped correct but perhaps we entered the wrong color? Side note, Orange is pretty rare and cool imo. Red being the most common.

Thanks Nolan, super clean work

No I think they are great. Was just wondering if they were different.

I know when I got my 80 lockouts you mentioned the gold were correct for it.

Was wondering what was different

There are some slight shape variances on some models, color of the lettering too.

Loves me hubs :D

The Dobinsons IMS lift shipped last Wednesday so I expect it to show up today or tomorrow so I dove into tearing out the old.

Of course it kicked my ass.

Trying to get a second wind to pull the rear springs but I may just wait a day on that one.

Lol. Not at you, with you. 230 branded calves kicked my butt today.

Wire wheeled the rear axle and driveshaft of the gunk and red paint then built out all of the brake lines on the axle and frame. Still waiting on the suspension to show up

Found out this morning that the suspension did not ship. Supposedly it’s going out today. That’s a huge bummer because this thing is on the rack for how ever long it takes to get the suspension here now from Florida via truck freight. Thanks @Ozark cruiser for bird dogging it for me.

I finished up what I could. Drained the rear axle and refilled. It was black soup.

Replaced the single circuit master with a non-ABS master and JT Outfitters adapter.

Bench bled the master and got the rod just right.

Built the rest of the hard lines in the engine bay. Solid day. Once the suspension gets here I’ll be able to plug and play and send this one on its way.

3.5 weeks of sitting on my lift dead is over. The suspension arrived yesterday and I took off to grab it this am

Those of you that have followed along on my past 45 OME installs May remember I took 3 leafs out of the rear packs and took them from 100# down to 80# each. These rears weighed in at 80#

I did an inventory and figured out the 45 kit Dobinsons has sent has them wrong spring pins, bushings and front shackles. This is all stuff I was prepared for thank God but I’ll be talking to them about this so others won’t get blind sided.

The US 45s have this goofy rear spring pin. Must of the old ones are still good but can get damaged when you remove them. I had 2 new ones from SOR in my stash.

Also, the frame hanger on the rear uses this special 18mm hole bushing with a small OD like a 40. 55’s use this bushing too. Again, SOR has them

I added some OEM bump stops. With the lift I doubt they will ever touch but the owner loves little bits like this.

I also usually just ditch the rear sway bar with these huge rear leaf packs but Shawn wanted to keep it so I turned to Landcruiser Phil for a set of his HD 80 series sway bar ends. They worked perfectly with the 45

These things are total beef

Next I installed the Dobinsons IMS shocks. The quality of these shocks is remarkable. Aluminum bodies and ends. I’m running them on my 80 and they are excellent shocks. The best quality in their price range by a stretch.
