Those seats will fit, and look good, (especially with new skins ;)...Shane was supposed to be looking into making quality repro skins) but look here --> https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj25-owners-group/254663-1962-fj40-resto.html -- look at posts #5 and #7 for what your seats should look like.

Keep and restore your heater.

The correct tail lights can be found here --> https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj25-owners-group/174609-dual-turn-signal-lense-colors.html -- look at posts #24 and the original brackets on post #28. The 25 tail light is smaller in diameter, basically they are like the bib lights, but with red lens, and an extra wire, those you have posted are the bigger diameter ones.

Anybody know the color of that green one? That's the color I would like to paint my early soft top.

I forgot to ask...why does every feel that, THAT green is not Spring Green T-1028? Has anyone tried getting some Spring Green paint on a rig to see the outcome?

Spring green was used for a few years after that. Quite a few FJ45 pickup came in spring green. My was originally Spring green. Not the same.

Front seats are as Mark posted 68/69. The seat catch is the give away.

The heater is around 71-73. Maybe 70. The defrost handle to the driver's is the give away there.

Rear tail lights were early 69 thr 73 model year. Early 69 had the medium size. Most list those as 64-68 but early 69 did have the smaller size. I've seen them. The pre 64 model year were smaller still. The same size as on the FJ25. Mounting brackets were different. These are the same size asfront bib lights.

Rear seats are the closest. Besides putting the correct red seat covers on you would have to grind the little brackets that attach to the top of the tub.

No heater really is listed for the the pre 64 2X/4X series. I know a heater was a option starteding in 65 and others have posted that they had a 64 with one but everthng else was a aftermarket. Most of mine came with some kind of a heater I think one or two the same as this one. All I know is Fox and I have a Nippon Denso heater that may or may not have been factory installed. It's not showing in the parts book. The defrost vents started with the 63 model year.

Just another side note the early FJ40s had US made reflectors mounted to the back and rear sides. I've collected them on a late as 64 FJ40s .

Are these clutch master and brake master the correct ones for my rig?

Would I call Cruiser Dan for a rebuild kit or just order some remans or new ones?

Thanks

One could be the brake master and the other could be the clutch. The other one would have to be from an later year or other vehicle. The dual circuit brakes didn't start until 71. Dan wouldn't be much help unless you have the part numbers. Toyota only goes back until 3/69. Dan was able to get me some 25 parts but I gave him the part numbers. The brakes in the 25 are different so the part numbers won't be the same. Might try Rob I think he has a 65 parts CD. Probably the same parts up until 68. I think sometime in 69 the brake line size got bigger so the rebuild might work until then. The resvoir went to plastic with the 68 don't know if the rebuild kit would work.

Not sure I will have to check it out this weekend. It's not bolted down just sitting in place. I've got a 68 seat in town besides the 64 and 62 seats. I know I using a set of 71 FJ40 seats in one of my FJ25 and it wasn't hard to do. It's a soft top model so the fill neck is in a different place.

I remember I had to use long bolts and washers. This a use around the cabin and forest roads. Just has lap belts. I would probably do it better if this a DD like Gene's LV and used on LA freeways. But I not worried for aroune the cabin. I can post pictures of how that one is installed. I do know the leg by the fill next switched which side it was bolted on in the mid sixties.

If you want I can post pictures of all the tail lights and brackets. I pretty sure I have them here in town.

D'Animal For what its worth....GREAT POSTS/THREAD!!!

My 64 has the exact same heater. No blower cutout in fire wall or vent in the tub.

I have recently purchased a 63 hard top for the fiberglass portion. I still have the long pillar sides if your interested.

The jump seats look to be the same as mine. The earlier long seats had a welded bracket to attach to the tub where the later long seats had bent tabs (I have 2 sets of these if anyone is interested)

If you have pics of how the windshield vent is assembled PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE post. I am finishing my resto/mod and cant quite remember how it was assembled. Your weather strip/rubber gasket looks different to mine.

I read earlier in the post that you are parting out your 64;). As I stated my current project is nearing completion. One would as least hope so after 5 years. Anyway, I am actively looking for another project, and am interested in anything 64/65.

Last but not least... I have a copy of the Juyly 63 Motor Trend and I believe that the pic on the front is of a 63 softtop where the aticle focuses on a 64 model year hard top.

GREAT FIND!

If you want me to take more pics of the pics I have or scan them and post then, I can do it. I did not post them all, didn't want to bore people.

I may take you up on the hi-B pillars.

I will get detailed pics of the winshield vent and mechanism when the sun comes up.

The 1964 is going to be up for sale once I get the title in hand.

Here's two of the same heaters. One is from a 62 soft top tub. The other is from a 65 45LPB. Both are from the mid CA area. The third is a Denso heater that was in one of my FJ25. Don't know the story on it. Not sure where it was installed.
