A little bumperboo on the drivers side rear quarter and some repairs on the rear sill are it for body defects.

Was it under water at some point?

i have a bit to go before i get there, but what seats fit this? im not necessarily for 100% correct, but certainly looking for correct-ish.
i cant tell if it 58-71 or 64-71.

How different are 64-71s?
64-71 seats should work. I think without any modification.
Compared to earlier frames 64-71 drivers seat will have better/easier forward and backwards adjustment, and thicker cushions, and slightly different frame. Passenger bench will have thicker cushions and no access to fuel sender unit without taking seat out should be the major difference, earlier bench seat cushion folded forward to access fuel sender. Earlier seats usually had thinner cushions compared to later version.

Wow....Nice find! It has been stated many times before, but I'll do it once more in honor of this early one. There are few things as awesome as the metal on a early 40 series. If this was a 1980 model, it would be red dust.
Not that you are asking, but I will cast an unsolicited vote for staying the course with the original F. There will be headaches, but there is a Zen moment with a F motor at around 2200 rpms in which Land Cruiser truths are revealed. I have seen the light.

Congrats.

To add to that, there were very few of these built, it is the first year for the fj40!
From what ive seen.
Less than 300 cruisers sold that first year.
Less than 100 soft tops sold.

So you get it… In this section we like to keep things stock. And that’s also what I would do. This one has potential for a full resto. With keeping the original parts you keep that possibility open for the future.
But it’s yours and you choose what you do.

Its going to get a 2f in it to get it back on the road. I can make that happen, much quicker than waiting to rebuild the oe.
Im not selling or otherwise parting with anything that may come off it.
Once its on the road, rebuilding the F and swapping out the 2f is not out of the question.
The body work is very limited on this....clean and paint is about it....any of the little bumps ive found so far, im likely to let shine.
