Just rolled in from an excellent weekend. I'm just starting to filter through the 879 photos I took and will be uploading some choice ones soon! It was a great opportunity to meet some great new people and re acquaint with some familiar faces. Rest assured that there will be a second annual 100s in the San Juan's run and it will be longer. We have already started brainstorming. Thank you to all who came and all who lived vicariously through the posts. Enjoy the photos.

20HR drive or not, I'm there next year. Just let me know when. Maybe a few of the ATL, Jackson, TX guys will join in and we can bring a southern group...

LOL!! Thanks Loud! Ranchhand is making the coffee this morning so I hope I'm safe. Hope to start planning a 100's North trip in Wyoming. Talk to you soon.

B & A

Thanks for the great time lapse Loud. There was a couple minutes that could have been clipped out to keep it more interesting.....you know when I'm talking about. :flipoff2:

I'm going to attempt to capture the trip verbatim here, hopefully the other attendees concur and no one is too disconcerted about the synopsis.

First some geek stuff. All photos and video were captured using a Nikon D7000 with Nikor 10-24mm lens. Mobile uploads were via iPhone4.

All photos can be found on photobucket at the link below. feel free to do as you will but if you repost please cite the photographer. Enjoy!

I arrived in Ouray Friday morning (intended to be there Thursday night but work got in the way) to find Bluecruiser exercising. After a brief moment of non-comprehension, I said hello and apologized for him having to stay in a hotel parking lot the previous night. We left Blue to his calisthenics and proceeded to camp. Camp was in the historic mining district of Ironton, 7 miles up Red Mountain. It's one of the few areas large enough to host a large group. We set up camp and relaxed and were soon joined by Bluecruiser (not driving a blue cruiser) and others began trickling in.

By 2-3ish we were betting in the mood to go wheeling. Ironton being at the base of Corkscrew Gulch made it an ideal candidate for an afternoon run. We proceeded up the gulch to Corkscrew Pass. It was lightly raining, so we decided to head into Silverton to grab a quick beer at the Silverton Brewery. Everyone concurred.

Leaving silverton with a full tank of gas and happy stomachs I stated that I knew of a less traveled route back to camp. We proceeded up the Super Secret Route to come to the best views of the trip. We found a cabin in the area that has great potential to be the base camp for next years event.

We returned to camp an hour or so before dark, by then 2wheelbob had arrived to keep Fubuki company setting up the Taj Majal.

Saturday we awoke not too hungover to blue sky and warm temp. We aired down and headed down 550 to the Alpine Loop (Mineral Creek) trailhead. Making our way up mineral creek Fubuki conquered some shelf roads and we enjoyed great views.

As everyone had sliders, we took a right onto Poughkeepsi Gulch. As we climbed the road got progressively more difficult. We spotted each other through some of the tougher spots and then made it to The Wall.

At The wall we saw a broken down Jeep which didn't help with the nerves but hey, we were all in Toyotas, how bad could it be? I attempted several different lines not having luck and feeling nervous having two 14 month old girls in the back of the truck. I resigned and backed down. We gave it another look and found a line that we thought would work for the group. Shaggy101 spotted Bluecruiser up the line and did an incredible job. We all followed making it up in 1 or two tries mostly. Even 2Wheelbob with his road tires and no lift made it with just a little tug from a winch. A take away from the experience is that there is no "100 series line" there is no "80 Series line" and there is no Jeep line. Peoples comments that state that there is only one way to skin a cat should be taken with a grain of salt. There were probably 3-4 lines that would have gotten everyone to the top that day.

Must be the dump session :D

We got back on the road, continuing up to the top of California Pass for a quick photo opp, then down into the ghost town of Animas Forks. By then everyone was exhausted and it was raining so the stop was short. I'd love to spend more time there next year as it is one of the best preserved mining towns in Colorado.

Sunday we awoke a little more hungover than Saturday but again to blue sky and warm temp.

We made our way to the top and to the Ledges in good time. I had Tiffany drive down the Ledges and the rest of the switchbacks while I spotted. She is turning out to be a great off road driver! We all got through the ledges without too much pucker and through the many 2-3 point turns on the switchbacks.

When we made it to Telluride Bluecruiser and 02beast decided that they needed to get on the road home. We bid them farewell and headed up Imogene with 2Wheelbob, Shaggy101 and 1LoudLx. It was a very scenic drive to the top and the overlook showed us where we had gone the days before.

In the bottom we had some fun splashing in the water and then said bye to 2Wheelbob as they wanted to do a little hiking and wildflower hunting. We made it past the 2 forest rangers with no problem and into Ouray for air. We said our goodbyes to Shaggy and Loud and headed home in time for Tiff to get to work.
