Not me unless you can convince me that your buddies KK can really be fixed for a
decent sum. :)

Just dreaming about a trip with my KK in tow ;)

Regarding Redline's KK:

If I had another bay and 1' more ceiling clearance I would have bought it myself. It won't pencil if you have to pay someone else to do all the labor. But if you are handy with metal and have the time...kinda like REZARF handy...you won't regret it. You'll, unless you have access to sheer and brake capable of large panel work, need to have a shop fab the top for you...but its a way to get into a $30k KK for relatively low coin. But it will take a little sweat equity work ;)

It will be awesome if you can make it!

As a matter of fact, I do have a camping spot selected. We will be camping in Ironton Park (7.1 Miles south of Ouray. Note there is no cell coverage here. At 7.1 Miles take a left at the sign for Ironton Park. Follow the county road (20D) that parallels highway 550 and turn into the camp site on the right.

Camp Site 1 (First Choice)

Bring lots of fire wood!!!
Also, there are no restrooms, if anyone has a portable restroom it would be a great addition! Otherwise bring a shovel/wag bags or hold it in.

Mornin' gentlemen. Just found this thread and joined up tonight. I am driving up to stay in Silverton for a week leaving Houston on 19th and plan to reach Silverton on Monday the 22nd. I wanted to try the Alpine loop in the UZJ100. I wish I could make the 19th but we made our plans months before I found this. Anybody plan to stay around the San Juans who cares for company and would enjoy watching a flat lander from the gulf coast tear up his wifes cruiser on his first trip to the mountains?

Yup, sold. ;)

Just to let anyone in the Denver area know, I'll be leaving sometime in the evening on Thursday(8/18) and getting at least part of the way there if not all the way. I believe at least one other 100 will be joining me on the drive down, and would be nice to have several of us so we can look so super cool on the highway.

Who dat?

I'm hoping to leave Thursday night to procure a camp site. Will anyone else be there Thursday??? These sites go faaast.

I've been persuaded by fubuki to leave friday morning instead. Plan on being on the road by 0800.

You can go ahead and leave Thursday and I'll catch up. I do have 2 fuel tanks and a turbo :flipoff2:

I guarantee just because of what you said you will blow it up. :flipoff2:

I ran Blackbear on the 31st. I have revised the original post. We will be running it as long as it's open (there is some construction going on). It is suitable for a stock 100 series. We will try to alternate the more experienced and less experienced drivers. We will designate spotters on the run and they will help everyone through the toughest spots. Listen to your spotter and everything will go great.

Also as I posted in the first post, I would recommend everyone try to have CB or HAM. I only have CB so will rely on someone with both to relay messages. You will enjoy the trip more with CB as I will be pointing out historic locations etc along the way. It will also keep the group more cohesive.

CB Channel is 9

We will not be eating at restaurants due to time constraints. There is a lot of ground to cover and a large group. We'll find good spots on the trail. First round of beer on Saturday night is on me :D

First official run is Saturday am. Friday is just staging, maybe a quick drive up the hill. The camp site will be well marked.
